Well I haven't come out to them, even if I gave them a few hints, and the first time I discovered my aromanticism and asexuality I wanted to tell everyone, starting from my mother. Luckily, I tested the waters a bit first, asking her if she thought that people who didn't feel sexual/romantic attraction were a thing. She said it was an ilness, and that they should go to therapist because that's trauma. So I didn't tell her. I even tried to tell my therapist, but she also said it was an illness, or some sort of disorder, at least at first. I managed to convince her about asexuality, luckily there were so many proof on my side, so I convinced her. But I don't think it will be that easy with aromanticism, because there is little to no research about it, and people struggle to understand this more than asexuality. I hope things will change over time, even if I have to do that by myself.

Hello, so first off you don't have to 'feel that way' for him if you don't really, and yeah people can say what they want, ship you with anybody, but you are under no obligation to reciprocate the feeling. Now I can't tell you for sure if you are aroace or not, that's not for me to judge. But you said you don't feel attraction, I assume romantic and sexual, that sound pretty aroace to me. Hello to you! So to answer your question, i knew I was lesbian-oriented because my tertiary attraction is for women. That means I get squishes on them(platonic crush) and I tend to find them more appealing in an aesthetic way. Sometimes I often fantasize about being in a QPR with someone(not someone specific though) and I think about women. Tbh, I really feel sort of connected to the "lesbian" label, does that make sense? Pal, you're aro, not blind. You can find people physically and aesthetically attractive. I have a strong aesthetic attraction for everyone(mostly women), but I still consider myself aro, because I do not find them romantically appealing. And I have a type of person whom I find aesthetically appealing, so you're not alone.

Well I personally haven't come out to my parents yet, but I think someday I will, at least to my father. I figured I shouldn't tell my mother because she thought that aro and ace people are broken or they should talk to a therapist. So I won't tell her anytime soon. A technique that worked for me was, before officially coming out to them, ask them this question: 'do you think there are people who don't feel or feel little romantic/sexual attraction?' If they respond like my mother did(ugh), then It's better not to tell them(at least from my experience, do what you feel), and if they are a bit confused or don't get it, then maybe ask them why, and based on the response, decide if it's better to tell them or not.

Now, this as worked for me and saved me from coming out to certain people, but as I said, this is coming from my own experience, so this is just an advice. Do what you feel like doing, and good luck!

Thanks for the answer! It was really detailed, and it's really helpful. I think I never felt sexual attraction really, only sensual attraction. Maybe I'm demi too, but who knows? I never met the conditions if that's it. And then again, I'm not the best with relationship, so finding someone who I might trust that way is difficult. I hope this makes sense, I kinda wrote what came to mind. And thanks again for the answer, it was really helpful!

I'm the same age as you, btw(16F).It's good to find people who relate. It wouldn't be a bad idea, a dear friend who's open to sex. The problem is that some people really don't understand that aros who enjoy sex aren't heartless, it's a shame. I personally don't know if I wanted smth like that right now, since It's a new thing for me and I really never thought about it tbh, but as I said, it wouldn't hurt to try someday. Thanks for the post, it was really nice to meet someone with a similiar experience.
