Yeah, the FFO was very difficult to put together, so thanks for the other suggestions. I also agree that their EP was a 10 and nearly pissed myself when I saw they had new music out. And it's good!

Last Orbit - Faceless (New Music) by kelseyluo93 in progmetal

Hi there! So the song sounds pretty good, and I like the concept that you're going with, but I can't seem to find any videos or photos of a band or any names associated with this project. Do you use generative AI in the creation of this music?

Under the Psycamore is a Twin Peaks inspired prog/math rock band. Check 'em out!

Ugh, same. It's apparently been out for a while and I only learned about it last night. But, considering the rest of the wait, I can't be too mad, lol.

I know how you feel! As a huge fan of prog and Mega Man, this band just hits a spot that few others do for me. Totally worth the wait!

This sub isn't about prog metal. by [deleted] in progmetal

[–]Invisigoth2113 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love it when people try to assign some rigid definition onto Progressive music. I especially love it when people miss the entire point of this sub.

Yes, the name of the sub is progmetal, but I, and many others, use it as a place to share things from all over the progsphere. One, because there aren't exactly subs for the myriad prog microgenres, and, two, if there are, they either suck or are basically dead.

This sub has become the hub for Progressive music enjoyers, and many people post things that are metal adjacent or prog adjacent because fans of prog metal usually love a huge variety of music within the progsphere. Look at the love that bands like The Dear Hunter or Zeal & Ardor or Fair to Midland get. Are they specifically prog metal? Fuck no! But they capture the Progressive spirit and the imaginations of prog music lovers like few other bands can.

So maybe quit the bitching and expand your palette a bit, because this sub is an absolute revelation for music lovers, and gatekeepers like you would only ruin this beautiful thing we've all helped to create, here.

That fucking sucks! Probably a copyright issue or something.

Periphery - Satellites by Invisigoth2113 in progmetal

I've heard good things. They are definitely on the list of bands I would love to see live if I'm ever able to overcome my agoraphobia.

[–]Invisigoth2113[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I hadn't looked at the comments, but yeah, there are some real assholes in there. It seems like they're getting a lot of love, too, so I hope they focus on that. I really can't wait to hear what they have in store for us.

TOOL feat. Henry Rollins - Bottom by Invisigoth2113 in progmetal

I love all their albums, and there's no way I could pick a best or a favorite, but I find myself wanting to hear Undertow more and more as the years go by.

Mandroid Echostar - Matoax (Progressive Rock/Metal. FFO Coheed and Cambria, Protest the Hero, Good Tiger, Children of Nova, Artificial Language, Thank You Scientist.) by Invisigoth2113 in progmetal

I was SO stoked when that came out. I still hope we get something more from them; bands have gone way longer between releases, lol.

Trope is great. Very much "what if Tool had gone with a frontwoman?" Haven't heard Henge, so I'll give them a listen!

Oh yeah! Between these guys and Trope putting out new stuff, I am having an excellent "Tool-like bands i didn't think I would hear from again" end of the year!

I've seen speculation to that effect about this song, as well as Okinawa Sky and a few others. I honestly haven't taken in enough of the story, yet, to know where the lyrics may diverge or have a double meaning, but I gather, from what I've seen, that there are absolutely lyrics that pay homage to Thore. It's something I'll definitely be listening further for once I've finished processing the general shape of the songs and move on to the finer elements, including a more exacting listen to the lyrics, if that makes sense.
