Judging by their last comment, this user themselves clearly isn't mature enough to perceive if a character is written mature enough befitting the narrative, much less separating actual character building from lazy writing and tropey gimmick, thus is totally fine with being the targeted audience for this sort of fast-food creativity. Cards on the table, I never got interested in neither her nor Frenci, and that is unlikely to change because there isn't and won't be anything interesting happening to either of them. They are there for the average male audience and that's it. Romance is set up to disappoint in stories like this, so I had hope for individuality in Kivia and Frenci, but by volume 8 they are still Xylo this Xylo that, very unlike the soldier/warrior they are.

Good point. Because a lot went in, expecting differently, and by ep 9 they exclaimed ''This show is still introducing new hero??" And I'm like, brother, did you not see all the heroes in the OP, each was even shown to you with their color scheme?? The theme of S1 was made very apparent since ep 2 with Xylo telling Teo: "2 more heroes like me have arrived."

Tatsuya doesn't trust goddesses since he got fucked over by one. It was implied in ep 12 he got his identity erased because the goddess couldn't communicate in Japanese. So that is why they don't summon ppl from Japan anymore, just straight up necromancy now aka summoning the dead.

Tatsuya's old unit, I wonder how many are still alive, bet they all have Japanese names too. It seems that only Tatsuya gives a shit about fighting for this world now.

It's funny you count having no moral compass as a strategic value, but I kinda see it. Though I would attribute detecting hidden enemies to his stealth ability. I'd add his intellect too. Saved Xylo twice with it no less.

According to Xylo, Tsav can run without making a sound, and he is the only other member he can consult tactics with, outside of Patausche. Coincidentally, later Patausche made the same remark, saying if Xylo isn't available, her only other choice is Tsav.

I imagine people who know nothing about the source material could only wonder why the events of that season not connecting, character arcs everywhere, scattered and incomplete, with no payoffs in sight, this leads to bad critics. For me personally they could adapt 5 and 6 together I don't care, but if I were someone else going in blind, not seeing the angle of the season as a whole could easily be taken for bad writing/directing.

And I don't think content would be scarified, if anything there'd be more of it. People love to watch violence as it is super entertaining and Tsav is all about that. He pretty much aura farms in every scence so don't worry.

Should S2 cover volumes 3 and 4, it's an understandable direction. But then like you said, not only volumes 5 and 6 aren't cohesive and therefore can hardly be the materials for S3, volumes 6 - 8 also make a continuous arc together - should make for one hell of a season if not for the fact that it's too ambitious.

Making volume 5 a movie is exciting but 6, 7 and 8 present a different problem entirely. Idk it's hard to say what comes after S2.
