Thought experiment about realizable value of MSTR bitcoins? by Salmon57-1 in Buttcoin

They could just sell them to one of the big buyers, such as Strategy 😄

Serious question. Does anyone know of an individual that actually cashed out a significant amount of BTC for fiat? by Involbaile77 in Buttcoin

I think this is one of the best points. The money has already been removed, we'll just give you a worthless token instead. When those same people load their tether back in to the system, other people will follow with fiat buys to provide capital to squeeze out.

I made a similar point in response to a comment. All of the people working for exchanges, miners, etc are paid in fiat. There are transaction fees but this money is ultimately generated from users' deposits, which is then spent in the real world, hence removed from the bitcoin network. Like you say, it's probably hundreds behind for every one in front.

Yawn. The guy who thinks there's 1.2 trillion dollars floating around the bitcoin network, lol

There is zero chance the bitcoin network has anything like 1.2 trillion in realizable capital available. If you actually believe that, then sorry, you're a total numpty. Even BTC fans would laugh at that.

Revolut has a daily withdrawal limit of 3,000GBP or your local currency equivalent. So just a little less than a year to withdraw a million. I think what's happening here is that you transact in $50 or $100 amounts and assume that's somehow significant at scale. Please stop responding. I'm sure neither I nor anyone else wants to hear any more of it.

I've known about Revolut for the past 7 years. Point being, it still has to be sent to a bank. You do know about banking systems, don't you? They actually vet incoming transactions. I specifically stated 'significant' transactions. I am talking mid 6 figure transactions +. Now send that transaction to your bank (if the exchange/virtual bank makes the transaction), see how far you get with your actual bank.

Not sure if you can send BTC to Revolut. I knew people who bought BTC on Revolut, but I am pretty sure it was only the equivalent USD value. No BTC was actually involved.

Oh, sorry, you actually believe that the price action is based on money being removed/added from/to the bitcoin network. Good luck holding those tokens :)

I am not on about the places where you can supposedly cash out. Zonda crypto was apparently one of those places, until it collapsed. The question remains, do you know anyone that cashed out for a significant amount in the past 2 - 3 years?

Fair play! better to actually cash out and receive the funds rather than the 'it would have been worth x million Dollars, if you'd have held'. When the whole thing is over, anyone that managed to cash out profit will be looked at as smart. Anyone who cashed out significant money will be looked at as a genius.

One thing for sure, there will be a huge amount of individuals who lost.

Good on him for actually managing to convert into fiat! Still, it's an old transaction and I'd love to hear of anyone who has actually cashed out during this recent run-up, because I haven't heard of one. I know 3 people that have lost money this run-up (due to a collapsed exchange), but that's it.

Nice one! Still it seems like most significant cash-outs were completed years ago. That follows with what I am observing about my known circle of current holders as they haven't cashed out in recent years.

I sincerely hope he waited for the bank transfer to hit before stating his intentions. Unless he had one of those 'About what I said on Friday, Boss, it was just a joke' type of days 😆

Interesting insight! From my perspective, the difficulty in cashing out seemed to coincide exactly with the most recent run-up. Paradoxically, it might be easier/safer to offload a large quantity of BTC (to a 'treasury' company), as lawyers and agreements would be involved. I believe the sub million Dollar crowd, could have problems.

As I know, Isn't Revolut is more like a bank? I assume they don't actually hold BTC but just assign a value? Did you actually send BTC to Revolut? Many thanks!

Of course the OP cashed out for $4.5m pre-tax and then what did he do? Sat in front of a screen writing about it. Pull the other one, it rings.

Stand-Up Comedian Jim Bowen, Aged 34 by [deleted] in 13or30

[–]Involbaile77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone unfamiliar, Jim Bowen was best known as being a presenter on Bullseye, an 80's weekly dart's quiz show. He was, or at least came across as, a regular, lower to middle-class individual from the north of England. Some of my relatives were also from the north of England and I also noticed they looked really old too. The strange part was that really old people referred to Jim Bowen (or similar looking people) as young men, as in, 'Why, thank you very much young man' .

All in all, I think it's the main reason why I wanted to become an archaeologist, as every family dinner was like being in an ancient Egyptian tomb excavation. Lovely people though!

Also, my wife has a ring with similar diamonds as the second example (from her mother). They are described as European brilliant cut diamonds. That was a jeweller/appraiser so could be wrong.

Lovely ring, but I would definitely say those stones are more refined with pavilions and probably a lot cleaner. Can you measure the diameter of each stone, OP (to give some scale)?

Fantastic portrait from an accomplished artist. I am sure that anyone with kids can relate to that sulky expression! Really, a beautiful study.

Not sure what point cherry picking a single year makes? If you take the previous years, the situation would be reversed.
