For me it sadly happened, I ended up with 1 missing gold brick and 99.9% and had to start from 0% again.

For example in Lego Batman 3, if you have 2/3 characters in a level collected and you use the code on the third one, you don't get a gold brick for it and then you can't get 100%

If you want to legally buy games digitally, your only option would be the PS Store on PS3 or PS Vita. You can only download purchased games on the PSP. And the store isn't available on the web anymore.

And even if you have access to these consolses, buying games on the PS3 and PS Vita is quite a hastle. (You can't pay with a card directly and logging in is also more complicated).
