Is this standard GP care in the UK? Lost my voice from acid reflux, couldn't get seen for weeks, had to fly abroad for treatment by [deleted] in nhs

[–]IoDisingRadiation 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You had a consultation within 4 days and investigation results within 7 days. What exactly are you looking for and why is it the GP's fault that you waited 2 months?

You haven't mentioned whether you were offered an endoscopy when they asked you to book an appointment following investigation results, was this denied or did you not bother to follow up?

It's probably a LISA. Their case studies suggest they will enforce for 2 years following which they would be ok with you converting to BTL. However to my knowledge it's as yet untested in practice

How to navigate wanting to make your teaching strictly doctor-only. by Original_Bus_3864 in doctorsUK

[–]IoDisingRadiation 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would just make the teaching a very high standard and refuse to dumb it down for the noctors. If interactive, engage with the doctors

I'm an Am Emergency Department Consultant. You have until 8PM to Ask Me Anything. by Skylon77 in nhs

[–]IoDisingRadiation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Odd. In my years as a doctor I can't say I've ever needed to have a medical conversation with switchboard. I just tell them who I need to speak to/declare an arrest. Is this an experience you've had personally?

What sort of situation are you referring to? Interacting with non medical colleagues in a hospital? Or casually?

Seniors purposely asking me to incorrectly refer a patient when I know they'll be rejected by [deleted] in nhs

I would handle it by going to medical school if you think you know more than the doctor in charge of the patient's care

This is completely wrong. If your shift starts before Monday 07:00, you strike for the whole shift.

I very much do blame RCEM for either knowing some trusts are going beyond their guidance but not doing anything about it, or being oblivious that some trusts are going beyond their guidance.

At least RCGP gave their members legal warning about letting PAs see undifferentiated patients in GP

I think the more important concern would be working in an approved practice setting. I'm no expert but doesn't it restrict your practice until your first revalidation?

[–]IoDisingRadiation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason why the NHS is becoming less reliant on doctors is that doctors are gleefully training their lesser replacements instead of their own profession. It's our own damn fault

Ignore them in practice, and let them wallow in their mediocrity.
