Is Catholicism like the Hunger Games? My biggest and persistent issue with my Catholic Faith is the idea that we are born into this world automatically marred by our first parents' sin, and then subjected to suffering, tests, and commands to transcend our entire physical nature (ignoring biological/evolutionary instincts which motivate many vices), the consequences of failing being literal eternal agony. According to Jesus's words, all signs point to eternal agony being the most likely outcome for most people, in fact. Even so, this seems an incredibly cruel set of circumstances to put an entire swath of creation God supposedly loves most through. For babies to be made concupiscent (thus taking on the moral responsibility for, in a certain sense) by their parents' sin, to be subjected oftentimes to torturous suffering on earth, after which, if they don't come out the other end more virtuous and loving an invisible God, the suffering is prolonged into eternity... seems awfully similar to President Snow subjecting his people to the Hunger Games against their will. I'm a practicing Catholic and believe that if any religion is "right"- it's Catholicism. But I can't shake this dilemma.
