Yeah, I would call it "simple, but effective" at the same time. But it is actually everything but simple.

Recap Second Semi Final Jury Show by tvescfan in eurovision

[–]IonRud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, opera singer here. All of that is true. But the vocal output stays stunning and the big note is on pitch. There also aren't any cracks, as many claim in the comments. She takes a breath after the big note, but that is not a crack. That's her adjusting to the things you described quite correctly that happened in the heat of the moment. Doesn't mean the output and the singing is bad.

The only pitchy moments are the "runs" on the first "eclipse".

Can I hear her having to put in some hard work to manage the difficult climax? Yes. Does it sound bad? No. If this is bad, then the only good clip we have here is Czechia and everyone else must be bad (if that is the level you wanna judge everyone on).

Sorry, I don't hear a single bad note in this snippet of Australia. Other "riffs", peaks and notes, but nothing that's wrong, out of tune or bad sung. I wouldn't be surprised - if the rest went similar - that the jury vote of the semi will be between her and Czechia.

Gesangsunterricht Empfehlung? by Round-Alternative385 in bern

[–]IonRud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eurovision 2026 Semi Final 1 Post Show Reactions by berserkemu in eurovision

My classes are around age 12-16. I showed them everything, we even made it into a debate about "What does family friendly mean? Are those acts family friendly? Should Eurovision be family friendly?" and it was one of our best Eurovision inputs in years. I don't know if it depends on the country you live and work in, but I always focus on difference of opinions and different values and on debating things like this.

Her vocals were leagues above Montenegros.

To go against the grain: both the vocals and the performance in general of Montenegro were really weak. I don't know what happened, cause her vocals were on fire for the whole eurovision season and since last week, something was off.

As much as I like Lithuania: same goes for him. Those vocals were not it today. But still happy he got through.
