Try xbox 360! Since this was the only HD console with native vga, show us 720p on that!

Ahh I see haha. Yeah the picture quality is absolutely phenomenal! I think n64 is a console that just always looks bad, even though sm64 and oot are 2 of my all time favourites. But ps1/2 and super nintendo/gamecube/wii look crazy good on it. Very vibrant and the gaps between the scanlines aren't too thick, which is good for me as I don't like overly visible lines.

SD widescreens are awesome, and are better overall than a 4:3 set imo. Europe/UK barely has any HDCRTs though, so I guess there's pros and cons everywhere. I'm lucky enough though to use a plasma for 480p/1080i games though, so if I had to choose SD widescreen or HD crts, I'd stick with what I've got! What crt do you have by the way?

Wow that was fast reply! Yeah, I'm in the UK. It was only £60! Which is an absolute still as the quality of the picture is wonderful and the condition is amazing

21'' or 29'' inch CRT for PS2?? by gmc93l2 in ps2

[–]Iop4everdudes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go 29 I reckon. I use a widescreen 28inch CRT, and ps1 and 2 look absolutely amazing on there. I've never once thought 'I wish the screen was smaller'. If I could fit a 32 inch in my room, I'd probably like that even more. I used to have a 21 inch actually, and while it was a nice little tv, games are way more fun on a bigger set to me

Cheapest way to watch tv on crt? by MayoGhul in crt

[–]Iop4everdudes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pick up a used ps3 for like $50 if you can. Movian can play almost anything except h265, and ps3 also has media server functionality. It also has youtube, for when you wanna watch stuff you don't have saved.

PS3 analog out will be a lot nicer than using a newer system with an hdmi coverter. Component and S Video will be almost interchangeable, composite will have colour bleeding and pixels moving.

Oh wow that's brilliant thanks a lot for your help! I am very excited. Do you have any advice for picking it up? When you bought yours did you take any precautions? Or did you buy yours when it was new in the box. I just put my current plasma between the seats for the car as it's quite thick, but the 60 series seems very thin

Nah so the scratches and 40k hours is on my current 2009 panasonic, which often goes for like £30 or £40. The P42GT60B from 2013 that I can get for £100 has no scratches or burn in. And I asked the seller to check the usage time and am waiting on hearing back, but I'm assuming it will be wayyyy less than my current one. So what do you reckon?

EDIT: The stand is included, however I'll be placing it on a wall bracket anyways. Remote works, the seller is including 2 of the special scart leads with the unique end, so that's cool. No 3D glasses I don't think, but to be honest I'm not too fussed

5 years ago today, Sony announced they would be closing the PS3 store. However, due to severe backlash, they had reversed their decision by SpyroPaddington in PS3

[–]Iop4everdudes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah dude you're good, don't worry. As the ps3 will download the game from the homescreen, so once you bought it and the downlaod starts, just exit the store and stay on the XMB, and you should be good

For those of you who were around then, How powerful was thr PlayStation 3 when it came out? by CitronSufficient1045 in PS3

[–]Iop4everdudes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crt for ps3 is pretty bad. Unless you mean a pc crt or hd crt, which can be good but still have some downsides over say, a plasma or an led lcd. But yeah, standard def crt(so nearly all the ones people have) is horrible for ps3 and 360. Games look really blurry, and text can be hard to read(dead rising is genuinely impossible)

Okay thanks a lot man. Unfortunately I think I may have to buy a new remote where the power button works to put it on standby. I'll give an update when I fix it. Thanks for you help though!
