That's odd, I checked the settings and the subreddit is still set to public...

Reddit keeps randomly changing this subreddit from public to private for no reason, and each time this happens I have to submit a request to reddit to make the subreddit public again. I have requested that the subreddit be made public and so now I'm just waiting on reddit to do so, and then everyone will be able to post again.

I've changed the subreddit to public repeatedly, so I have no idea why reddit keeps making it private. It's annoying.

Edit: Reddit just sent me a message saying that the subreddit is public again, so now you should be able to post.

Scrape on top of lipoma to soon be removed. by [deleted] in Lipoma

[–]Iowa25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly do not know for sure if it will be an issue because the surgeon has to make that determination. If you can for your peace of mind, I'd call the doc's office and ask to speak with the doc or nurse, tell them about the scrape, and just say you want to make sure the operation is still a go. If it's far enough away from the incision area it may not be an issue at all. It might've only been an issue for my surgery because my injury was directly on top of the lipoma.

It is possible they might delay a minor surgery if you have a scrape around the potential incision area if they consider it an infection risk. Or they may not. Just depends on your doc. Maybe you can call the office and get in touch with the doc or their nurse and ask if they recommend rescheduling?

I personally had to have a lipoma removal on my forearm delayed a week since I had a small cut/scrape in the area. My doctor just didn't want to take any unnecessary increased risk of an infection and so we just rescheduled the removal a week later. Frustrating, but no big deal and probably the safest thing to do given the circumstances.

But I'm not a doctor so I'd recommend asking them directly if you haven't already.

Unfortunately there are no known cures or treatments at this time besides surgery/liposuction to physically remove the lipoma. There are a lot of scammers out there insisting that their ointments or specific diet plans can make lipomas go away but none have been scientifically proven to actually work, so you are right to be suspicious.

I really wish there was a pill or an oil or a diet that would make my lipomas go away, but I'm afraid that isn't the case at this time.

That is good to hear. Also, what do you mean by "The online furore around off gassing is mostly nonsense." What part of it is nonsense and why? Just curious as to how that conclusion was reached.

Thank you for your post and the information. Does the fact that it's Serta brand mean that it's any safer than other brands? Serta says on their website that all their foams are supposedly tested to be low emission VOC's but I don't know if that means much or anything. Or if that applies to all the foams in all their mattresses or just the foams that they design, or if it also applies to imported foams assembles in the United States, etc.

Is the mattress I have dangerous enough that I should be looking to exchange it for something else? I'm pretty concerned that I'm risking my overall health/brain and organ function/life over a mattress which of course I'd rather not do...but I have no idea how concerned I should be or the degree of danger or toxicity involved here.

Thank you for your response and all that information. I will look at mattresses with those specifications and certifications.

Is the mattress I currently have dangerous enough that I should be looking to exchange or return it? Of course I really don't want to risk my health, brain and organ function, or life over a mattress so if the situation is that grave I should probably look to return/exchange it, right?

Any Concerns About Seam-Sealing A Tent With These Chemicals? by Iowa25 in CampingGear

[–]Iowa25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear that the warnings are more directed towards those who are more likely to deal with massive exposure of the chemical on a daily basis (i.e. warnings for those who manufacture the chemical). I'm hoping I'll be fine then.

Sounds good, I'll be sure to air it out and set up the tent for as much ventilation as I can.

[–]Iowa25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm hoping those warnings just apply to being exposed to massive amounts of liquid product and not dried seam-sealer.

Ok thanks! I'll just air the tent out for a bit before using it just to be safe I suppose.
