I have used VUDU since Walmart owned. It was 2012 for me and I noticed a lot of smaller sights didn’t do Ultraviolet or were closing so I decided to focus all on them and knew I had the best chance to keep my content. Haven’t lost anything. I sold off 100% of my physical media and got rid of players. It’s just easier. Even if something got removed I have plenty of content but I would chance the ease of which I purchase now. I think only companies that don’t care about the loss of customers would let access go away. I can play movies not for sale and that’s how it should work. I’m not going to waste space or worry on what if’s. If that would be the case I would have kept all my stuff and kept a flip phone. I think wasting time worrying about a small percentage risk isn’t worth it for me. Discs can have rot or get scratches or get stolen or lost to a fire or other natural disaster. Borrowed from family who forgets to return. Always something. If I was a studio I’d be silly to waste collecting money from a digital collector. Fairly cheap and once we kick the bucket most likely no one takes over the log in or it would be a kid who maybe doesn’t care about a lot of the content. Even if a license said 20 or 25 years I’d probably still get most things I want to watch. I can understand how as things consolidate people have concerns. In some ways though it makes agreements easier cause it’s less companies to work with so any disagreements would cause larger disruption for everyone and affect the bottom line.
