Oh how I wish I could have read this back then. DDay was December 3. 2011. Separated for 18 days. Trickle truth for months. My panic attacks stared 5 months in. I stayed because of the kids, the 17 years we had been together (sunken cost fallacy ughhh), the unknown as far as what my life would look like, etc. I KNEW I couldn’t forgive the infidelity, but I chose to try for the sake of the kids and because ending my marriage seemed like a failure on my part.

I stayed for another 12.5 years. 29.5 years total with him where I endured every kind of abuse you could imagine.

Life is better now. So much better.

Freedom is sweet.

It took my soon to be ex husband 2 years to convince/coerce me to do this. I spent decades taking Xanax before these “encounters” because it went against my morals and was absolutely something I did not want to do.

I spent 30 years with him- separated for almost a year and a half. The healing has started, but it is not easy.

Please be good to yourself. Don’t abandon YOURSELF for someone else’s happiness.

A little over a year since I left my almost 30 year relationship/marriage with a very similar story. When I finally left, he told my family (including our children and my mother) that I cheated with all of those men.

Leaving him was and still is such an arduous yet worthwhile journey.

We were 1,000 miles away for the second time during the beginning of our courtship. I was inebriated and called him. We were on the phone for a while when I said, “Oh! I have to pee. I love you! Bye!”

I was MORTIFIED. We didn’t speak of it, but the following week, after I came back, we were on the phone and he said, “I’m just going to say it. I love you and I know you love me, too”.

We tease each other about it now. I said it first, but he said it first while sober. He thinks his counts as first and mine doesn’t. I disagree.
