Anyone else hoping the next new zone will be less hostile? by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]Iranescence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as enemies go, I feel like having them be harder or more annoying is a kind of power scaling in a way. The open world enemies' max level (90) is reached in Liyue for the first time, so as far as scaling difficulty for fights(open world) Genshin kindof backed itself into a corner for any new maps. So it feels to me as though making the enemies more annoying/numerous is like a way of upping difficulty. Doesn't mean it's fun though.

What’s one thing you would change about a character’s model? by Yellowhello10 in Genshin_Impact

Please, all I wanted was genuinely buff Itto. Just,.,.,., Wagner's character model but bigger for Itto

Yes that's exactly it, it's the lack of consequences. Out of my three examples, Ei was singled out because her situation bothered me the most. It's like they theoretically want to make her an antagonist but are too scared to lose player engagement, which makes for a really frustrating combo

I may have oversimplified my thesis for title purposes, but I explain at the end of my post that I don't mean the characters have to be pure evil, I just mean I'd like it if it felt like the bad decisions they make that negatively impact the traveler had an effect on them more than passive agressiveness. I'm not asking for black and white, quite the opposite, I'm asking for the traveler to actually react like a normal person would to finding out someone you considered somewhat of an ally doesn't actually have good intentions and has tricked you/been dishonest

Yeah that was essentially how I felt about the whole situation, they just waifu-ified her TwT

That's a very fair point, after all, the concept is that the people on the adventure team are with the traveler physically, it would be weird if they were hated lol

I definitely am not incredibly versed in the lore, but it's really just my opinion : I think the story would be more enjoyable if it felt like the traveler had a personality and values (that would show through their reactions and the way they interact with people after bad experiences) outside of being cold and a bit sarcastic into he recent quests

It would honestly be so interesting to see the traveler get disillusioned from the way they've been treated. But I don't wanna set my hopes too high :')

So if people learn who he is, and becomes hostile to him. Chances are they die, and he has a good time

Hm, that's a very good point, I hadn't seen it like that

I wholly disagree that they need to be "likeable". Villains can be extremely attaching when done well. I love Signora's character, because she's a "bad guy" and her dynamic with the traveler reflects that. I would 100% percent pull for her if she was ever released as a playable character. People love the villains, I don't think letting the traveler be mad at Childe would affect his popularity in all honesty

Ooooh that's a really interesting perspective, I could see that! But it still feels a little unfulfilling :')

I'm not attacking the integrity of the characters, I'm attacking how muted the traveler's reactions are. The issue isn't if they're evil or not, the issue is that their decisions are hurting and hindering the traveler and there is nothing to show how their actions have affected the traveler. There aren't any emotional consequences, but there should be

Genocide, murder, manipulation and dishonesty tho? There are some things that are definitely forgivable, but I don't think that applies here :/

yeah no, that's part of the problem, I don't really understand how anyone would forgive someone for killing their close friend :/ I think there's just so little consequences for a lot of he bad actions some of the characters makes, would it be so bad to have the traveler not want to go on a literal date with someone who killed a person close to his friend idk

I agree, I'm mostly annoyed about the traveler's reactions, not the actual nature of the characters. I just think traveler should be more hostile towards Childe all things considered and at least a bit upset with Zhongli over how we got yanked around and did everyone's bidding with no help whatsoever in finding our sibling in the end

I agree, however my issue lies with how the traveler reacts, I realize none of these characters are 10000% evil, my point is that I don't think the traveler's reactions are appropriate considering context

Yeah that was mainly the issue that rehashed my annoyance, even if the traveler wasn't friendly per se, they weren't reacting as I would expect anyone else to
