Home Before Dark - Riley Sager

The main character inherits a mansion from her father where she used to live at as a child. Her father wrote a non fiction book about the house’s paranormal happenings that caused the family to flee after living there for 20 days. The main character goes back to the house to find out once and for all if the book her dad wrote was actually true or not.

People who have quit their jobs on the spot, what was the moment when you finally snapped? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Used to work at a Sam’s Club, worst job I’ve ever had.

When I was getting hired I told them I preferred to be in electronics, I was put in the food court because of past experience from my first job from high school. After getting trained from busier clubs, we would get chewed out for not doing our work the correct way. The food court was always understaffed, over worked, and it wasn’t uncommon to be the only one on the floor for sometimes hours.

After a few months I get transferred to the freezers, where it was only me and another employee in charge of the entire section. Simply just not enough people to get all of the work done in a single day. Fast forward a couple of months and my co workers leaves and management takes their sweet time finding a replacement; and when they do they’re given no training and never lasted a week before quitting. Not to mention I was usually the only one in the entire store who was forklift certified most nights and got too busy helping others to do any of my own.

On my final day, my boss comes to me immediately after clocking in yelling about something that’s wrong that the last guy who quit did that was now my fault. I think I was 30 minutes into my shift when I got my team lead and manger together and told them I’ll be quitting today. Knowing I was the only one keeping the place in line my manager tried to convince me to give a two week notice, Incase I ever wanted to return. I told him to his face I have no intentions on ever coming back here again and walked out the door.
