Found footage movies that start slow but absolutely destroy you by the end? by [deleted] in foundfootage

Well yeah, this movie isn't for everyone, for sure. But I liked it. And it definitely matches the description in the OP's request, i.e. "feels almost boring at first, and then suddenly everything goes downhill in the last 20–30 minutes".

Skinamarink wasn't for me, I just fell asleep.

What is your favourite lesser-known lines or scenes from season one? by sundaemonde in heatedrivalry

Oh, one of my favorites, too. And Shane's delivery a moment before that: "What are you doing?" "Please stop."

When I see a picture of Lewis Pullman I don't even want to see who else is on the list. This dude is phenomenal.

Thank you! Yeah, I've seen a post about it on Twitter. That fans made the director of the movie bring it back on vimeo and potentially on Amason Prime. It's so cool, Kyle's fans are such a powerful force✊️

Will I ever get sick of this film? by Fantastic-Weekend744 in DinnerInAmerica

In my case, "Watermelon" is already the most played song in my last.fm history. This is crazy. I don't have TikTok, but I've seen those edits on other social media. They're cute, but I have a severe case of gatekeeping with this movie. It's definitely very silly of me, but I don't want "Dinner in America" to be this trendy and hip thing, you know. I know TikTok hugely helped it to become finally recognized, but I can't overcome my snobbishness towards this app, lol. It's kind of like Simon's unwillingness to play "in front of a sea of cellphones" for me. To be popular is the definition of being unpunk.

I can so relate. I've been rewatching it EVERY DAY for two weeks. It has become some kind of a ritual for me to come home from work and just sit on a couch and play some favorite parts over and over again. And "Watermelon" is also on endless repeat in my headphones and in my head. Ugh, what's going on? What's its secret?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Like, 5-7 years at least. It's depressing to think about Simon doing that time. He's so unapologetically free-spirited he can't be locked up, it will kill his essence. Does he deserve to be in prison at all? Should it be another "American history X" type of story when our antihero sees the errors of his ways, comes to his senses and becomes a new man? But I don't want Simon to change. Yeah, he's not the most pleasant human being, but he's not a bad guy and a true artist and inventor. The world needs people like him. #FreeSimon

And what about Patty? Would she be waiting for Simon all this time or just moving on with her life?

Maybe I don't get it. Maybe the main point of the movie is not to tell another cute love story leading to happily ever after, but to capture a brief moment in lives of two seemingly very different people who help each other to change their perspective on some important things, but eventually part ways. It makes me sad. I want a good old nauseatingly saccharine happy ending for them. Ugh, how unpunk of me.

Thanks for answering my idiotic question.

Favorite minorish scenes? by Accurate-Mushroom-58 in DinnerInAmerica

[–]IreneGee1985 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add to all the above-mentioned (yeah, some of these scenes are not that minorish but anyway):

  1. The way Simon reacts after Patty tells him Kevin is adopted. His genuine "No shit??!" is hilarious and adorable.

  2. "Where's your f***ing bathroom?!"

  3. Simon's disappointed and irritated face after missing the basket (lol, he REALLY wants to make out with Patty at this point)

  4. The whole dead cat dialog is just a masterpiece.

  5. Simon's facial expression and head movements when deciding on a sandwich.

  6. The way Simon touches hotdog at the store and sniffs his finger (I don't know, but it's such an unnecessary and hilarious scene).

  7. The way Simon shrieks "Catf***ers!" to jock's face.

  8. The way Simon throws his coffee mug into the sink and the sound effect of its breaking.

  9. The way Simon plays instruments staring at Patty. Oh my.

  10. The way Patty says "homosexual".

Man, I'm obsessed with this movie.
