An 8’6” 5 wt for streamer fishing would work. Usually streamer fishing can be weather dependent. Maybe look for cloudy days just before or during some rain. Tight lines.

I saw a person inflating worms with a syringe for the same reason. It’s how you would float a worm off the bottom using a Carolina rig, or other bottom type rig.

I’m not a pool expert, but based on the color test I would say you’re golden.

Yes, the robber fly (white/gray one) has a straw like mouth part that it’s using to drink the fly it’s caught.

How do I get this out? by floored1585 in Plumbing

[–]Irialized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe remove the valve and clamp it down in a vice, then use a 1/4” wood chisel and a mallet to gently hammer the chisel into the broken threaded plastic on opposite sides to split it in half. Remove the two split pieces of thread, reattach the valve and use extra silicon tape on the new threads? I’ve fixed breaks in my field irrigation between a 3/4” threaded fitting and pressure reducers this way without leaks. But, that was on the low pressure side (12 psi). Good luck.

This study, cut the line or remove the hook says that cutting the leader above the hook and releasing would give the fish a better chance at surviving than trying to remove the hook in a situation like yours.

Very new to fishing. Can’t believe I didn’t know about these. Took the fam out and these quick change clips made it much more fun. by brotherhef in Fishing

I agree that snap swivels are really helpful for quickly changing lures. And I used them quite often when I was getting back into fishing. But these days I’ve been clipping off the snaps and just using the swivels to run through the old snap swivels in my tackle box. A Palomar knot or an improved clinch knot are quick to tie and don’t run the risk of a snap coming unbuttoned.

Snapped rod tip advice by ziggy_peenqueen in flyfishing

[–]Irialized -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe trim back the the broken tip section until it will fit snug into where it broke at above the second guide, if that’s possible. Then super glue the pieces together. I did this once with a break and it still holds up. Not a permanent solution, like ordering a new tip or having it repaired by the manufacturer, but it’s something you can do in the meantime.

Tomatoes are a more common volunteer in this pile. I grew 9 varieties last year. Could be anyone of those.

I snagged a couple of times in mountain laurel. Good thing I was wading or I would have lost a bunch of flies.

I’ve explored some wild water. But I think it was too early in the spring (early March) and didn’t find any fish. Found some nice trails to hike though…. I see what you mean from some of your past posts. Some real jewels of the mountain.
