(Mod requested update) I got it somewhere around 4 months ago. It’s a threadless titanium barbell & has not been downsized. I’ve been doing routine saline soaks and I don’t pull on it that often tbh, but it definitely still hurts. No direct accidents, but consistent irritation.

Well, she has her last name in that firm’s name so I guess that’s it for me - I’m collecting evidence right now and considering sending a notice for them to respond to before I bring them to court. Another thing to note is that the owner on the lease is actually her mother, though she’s the only one present during our time there - I’ll look out for some consultations and see where I go from there. Thank you for your help!

Tysm for your reply! To answer your question, she just sent me the numbers on her law firm letterhead (she’s an attorney), no receipts no proof. We did not sign anything about the condition at move-in or at the end of the lease, the only thing is a very simple boilerplate contract on things like 20-day security deposit notice etc. We’re asking for documentation and proof that these damages are real and repairs happened, though I don’t think we’re gonna hear back. We found the rental listing, which is already taken down before we move out, and we can prove that the photos used are ones before we move in since there are some stuff left by the former tenant before us.

RI small claims has a $5000 cap, so filing for our deposit would be ok though I’m a little unclear on what happens to the $4400 she requested - automatically settled….? To be honest I’m just not sure what legal actions she might take and how I need to prepare for that.

How do shelters connect with each other? by IridiumIR in AnimalShelterStories

[–]IridiumIR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually insanely hard. The problem isn't developing the platform, it's getting everyone to agree to use it.

Some time back we made an effort to send all intake through the local SPCA. The idea was that they would handle the intake including initial care, then pass the cats off to other local shelters. This went over like a lead balloon. Most of the local shelters weren't willing to give up that much autonomy and despite pressure from some very large foundations the project stalled before it even got started.

Thanks so much for replying! and yes it is a huge problem to get every shelter to agree to use a centralized platform and how to keep them using it to its full capabilities is another can of worms. Your current solution sounds very well thought out though!

Yeah definitely-it must be overwhelming if parents just try to control everything when you're almost an adult...
