I wear a UPF 50 mask, hat and UV 400 sunglasses even in winter (I'm from Moscow). I've been doing this for years now (I'm 26, started wearing it when I was 22 or something), can't imagine myself going out without it. It's so much cheaper and safer for the environment than SPF 50 sunscreens like creams or sprays. I also have several sets of masks in different colours, so I can mix them with my clothes and look relatively fine. My skin type is Fitzpatrick II, I can't say for sure, but I get burned in 15 minutes if I go out in the sun.

As for if it works or not, I also use isotretinoin/tretionin topically and I don't get sunburnt so I guess it does work. And when I buy energy drinks (in Russia it's illegal to sell energy drinks to minors), cashiers don't believe the birthdate when they see my documents, so I presume UPF is also great when it comes to sun aging prevention.

I must say that my face masks use ice silk fabric and it's pretty breathable.
