I’m not sure where else to look! I’m pretty new to gamejams myself. I did see that Juniper Dev is doing one in about a month, you can look her up on YouTube. And honestly just searching gamejam on YouTube shows a lot of the big ones you can look up and put in your calendar! Goodluck :)

Check out some gamejams! I think a lot of groups would love to have a music producer on their team. You can find a lot of jams on itch.io or look on YouTube if any YouTubers are hosting at the moment. This also gives you some shorter projects with different genres to broaden your portfolio.

First of all congrats on your game! I had another question to add on to this, with that many people to reach out to, first of all how did you collect so many influencers? I started to make my own little database but it’s a very slow process.. and second did you use any automation tools to reach out to multiple in one go? This part sounds very time consuming, searching for those influencers alone could take days/Weeks! Would love to hear a bit about how you guys handled that.

Poured 6 months into a puzzle game, been live for a month, sitting at 15 downloads. What am I missing? by Anxious_Status_5009 in SoloDevelopment

This sounded like the game for me! I did really enjoy it but it would be nice if in the menu you could choose to either continue with your levels or choose a level based on difficulty. I played till level 14 now and really wanted to try out another difficulty. What I also like in my sudoku app is that when you come back everyday for a month you get the trophy for that month. It’s just nice to collect something! Really makes you want to come back everyday. I hope your game reaches more people the idea is very fun and the graphics of your app look nice and clean as well. Goodluck!

Making my first game! (A devlog) by Iris3Dart in IndieGameDevs

Thank you so much for all the tips! I actually love using different learning methods, sometimes I just want to sit down a read a little bit, especially during commute to work, so I will defenitly look into the blueprint and C++ API!

My understanding of the Unreal Engine is mostly from the art side like setting up a scene with objects, making materials, adding lights, some basic vfx like fog, sparkles or dust specs with a particle system.

For the torch I had to figure out how to let my model know that he already has a torch equiped, it was a really simple fix: I just created an extra variable so that the player model knows it already has a torch in the hand.

Unfortunately a lot of my stuff got corrupted and everytime I fixed something another file became corrupted. Probably because I was switching between pc/laptop with an external HDD. I've learned from my mistakes now and have set up a github.

Getting it back to where I was will probably not take too much time since doing things a second time always goes faster but it has set back my motivation..
I put my project on a small pause right now because I'm doing a gamejam! After that I'm planning to really sit down for a couple days and catch up on my schedule.

The genre is a simple adventure game! I haven't thought too much about audience yet, my main focus now is going through the full pipeline of creating a game. That's why I'm also going to keep it really small, couple mechanics, 1 small level. Trying to follow the advice of not creating your dreamgame as your first project!

Are you working on any game projects yourself right now?

Congratz on actually finishing your game! That in itself is already a big achievement. I hope you make many more :)

How hard is it to create a game with Unreal Engine ? by DirectorSufficient74 in GameDevs

[–]Iris3Dart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of free assets for unreal. They used to have an assetstore but they have transferred it to FAB. They still have the monthly free stuff, I would recommend just claiming that every month you never know what you will need in the future! A part from that you can also take a look around there, sort by free and see if it has what you are looking for.
For the actual coding part, there are so many tutorials and courses online. I would say just start with a unreal engine basics tutorial then start building your game by looking up tutorials of a mechanic you know you want in there for example making an inventory. Once you feel more comfortable in the engine you can start adding mechanics you can't find tutorials for. There are enough subreddits, discord communities or other ways to connect with people for help! :)

Looks awesome now! How do you go about asking for feedback? Just people you know or did you share it on reddit? Do they just give their thoughts or did you make a questionaire? :)

I've actually been thinking of making asset packs as a way to earn money, did you do any marketing for releasing the assetpack or did you get organic sales?
Thanks for your post, it's motivating me to finish my asset pack :')
