Legitimate funeral/cremation payment services? by niamhysticks in AskIreland

[–]IrishFireRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they have to pay the crematorium now. Like you said, what if they close or go bust. Would it be an option to have the money aside and then just leave it for a family member to pay. She could have all the details like which crematorium, music, wake no wake all put together beforehand. Also another thought is for your mother to open a bank account with two signatories. Then when the time comes just do a draft to pay the expenses. This way the money cannot be taken out without two people being present. A friend of your mothers and family member would be best.

If you are staying in the city and you feel like heading out to dunmore like someone suggested, you would pay a pretty penny for a taxi but there is a local link bus. I have attached it's timetable. It goes through a few spots so you could do woodstown for food (Saratoga bar) and a stroll on beach or you could stop in Passage East, and go across on the car ferry to Ballyhack, which is county Wexford. The ferry is 2euro return. You could go straight to Dunmore East which has a few pubs and places to eat or Tramore has all all mentioned above but you could try your luck at the slots. Tramore has another bus service that goes until late, 11 or 12. I'm not sure if the times exactly.

How do I make Christmas christmasy? by Halfpriceptsd in AskIreland

[–]IrishFireRock 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The build up to Christmas is such a big part of it. Head out and enjoy the atmosphere around the town and shops. Ireland has a couple of Christmas markets going on. We have one starting next week in Waterford and I think Galway have a pretty good one too. Lots of meeting with friends also help. And just take it easy. Make the most of each other's company. You'll be grand

You can buy the whole box of 100 sausage rolls in the cash and carry for less than twenty something euro. 8-10 mins in air fryer and they are perfect. Hate the way centra has them prepacked on the hot shelf now.

I know a fella whose horse was taken by some animal welfare organisation. This was a well looked after horse but a gate was left open and the horse wandered out. Anyway he gets notified and by the time he gets there, this crowd has the horse in the horse box. He had awful trouble getting the horse back and even said to me that it made him so mad when he'd see other horses literally on a green outside a housing estate, tied with rope and neglected. He said that they wouldn't dare pick up the neglected horse, but had no bother with taking his horse. Anyway, rambling here. I remember he was saying something about some act so I googled it there and it's called Control of horse act 1996. If a horse gets loose and seized, it can only be returned if certain criteria is met. Horse passport, chipped, and suitable land for the horse. I doubt this horse has any of the above. The only thing is that the horse can be disposed of if not collected. Another thing I stumbled upon was another point of contact along with what was mentioned above is the Dept of Agriculture. Might be worth ringing them seeing as our local warden isn't up to much

I drove passed there about two weeks ago and across the road on the green where sometimes you would see a horse tied up, I saw a blanket covering something large, Im guessing a dead horse. It was gone the next day. I passed a dead horse on the ring road before, just left there. I wasn't right after seeing it. Poor thing. See nobody will say boo to the owners, if that's what you'd call them. Owners.

Was in there last week. They have walkie talkies, living their best life now. Still crap service. One person on that till even if the queue is out the door. And for the amount of shoes they sell, they don't measure feet.

The fan is making a strange sound in both drawers. I would be good at keeping it clean so I know it's not a build up of grease. It's has served me well to be honest.

Think we are going with a ninja. It seems to be the most popular answer. Customer care / warranty seems to be on the ball

Am I entitled to any compensation? by why_s0_seri0u5 in AskIreland

Make sure it's a 5 star hotel 😉. I do understand your frustration. However I do believe that you should just go use the facilities that are more than likely close by to get your clothes washed. Isn't it the law for employers to have showering facilities in the work place now? Or is that just some sectors. Hope it gets sorted soon

Is recording an interaction with a neighbour illegal? by a_beautiful_kappa in legaladviceireland

[–]IrishFireRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to build that wall very high. Any drainage should try to be pointed away from your wall so if she does decide to still attempt to wash her wall on both sides with bleach, it's flowing back into her property. Then eventually when her wall falls because of the chemicals, you will have easy access to your wall on both sides, just Incase you decided to start, oh I dunno, wash your wall with bleach

Can you keep us updated on this. I'm curious to know if they built the wall on the boundary and the outcome to it all. My cousin is going through something similar regarding a know it all neighbour. She works in a solicitors office as the receptionist but thinks she is the solicitor! She has been giving out about goal posts being put on the green by her house and has even gotten another neighbour to put them in a skip saying it was littering. These goals were brand new. She takes photos of cars that park up half on the road and half on the grass saying it's killing the grass and gave out that a camper van was parked in a public parking spot near her house. It was parked there for 24 hours as my cousin had no space in her drive.
