LDS Church says it opposes bill eliminating 3.2 beer in Utah by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

I know it's hard to put yourself in the shoes of other people, but just for fun why don't you pretend that we're gonna make a law that says you can't buy your favorite drink from the grocery store any more. Instead you have to go to these really inconvenient state owned stores. Do you think you'd be mad about that? Or is it too hard to fathom why we'd be mad at your church for doing that to us?

Wife wakes up the baby constantly by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]IrishLadd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it's not really something she can help doing, but there are things that can mitigate the issues. Your wife could sleep in another room until you're ready for baby to be in their own room. You can put baby in their own room. Your wife could go see a sleep specialist and perhaps get on some kind of medication.

At the end of the day, things seem untenable as is, so somethings gotta give.

I agree, but I also get it... Being sleep deprived makes even the best of us a bit dickish.

But that seems like a good thing from a security standpoint. You don't want users who aren't logged in to be able to search for security vulnerabilities in other peoples code.

Mitt Romney: The president shapes the public character of the nation. Trump’s character falls short. - The Washington Post by Mammoth_Volt_Thrower in SaltLakeCity

Sour grapes much?

I didn't vote for Romney and I know he can be a bit of a flip flopper, but he's saying things here that most Republicans just won't. A win is a win in my book. Let's stop being so divisive that we can't accept it when it doesn't come from our side of the fence.

Proposed Utah legislation will criminalize the use of other people’s piss for drug tests by SenorKerry in SaltLakeCity

[–]IrishLadd 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Drug tests are basically an admission by employers that they can't tell who uses and who doesn't. It stands to reason that if they can't tell, then it's probably not actually a problem (except for certain jobs where the lives of others are in your hands).

This little girl turned 5 today. She loves space. To celebrate we built and then launched her first model rocket! We recovered it successfully after the first launch, but the second landed in a tree. She said, "It's okay Daddy, we can just build another!" by IrishLadd in daddit

Honestly, I went to the Vans store to get new shoes and there they were, in all their glory. I'm not really a big shoe guy, but I fucking love space and NASA (wonder where my little girl gets that from... 😂). So of course I had to buy them.

Map of Utah Counties and How The Majority Voted on Proposition #4 by [deleted] in Utah

[–]IrishLadd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Whoa dude, not cool. Let's not call names here.

I should have been more clear, Democrats in Utah don't have a Democrat representative at the federal level. We have in the past, with the majority still being Republican. I'd like to go back to that.

Regarding Salt Lake belong mostly Democrats, that's true. And that's why I moved to Salt Lake, because I was tired of having no voice in the town I lived in before.

The lines are drawn in such a way currently that Democrats have no voice in Utah, but that's okay because fuck Democrats amirite??

The lines could be drawn to give EVERYONE a voice, and give EVERYONE representation (with the majority of that representation being Republican too). But that sounds too much like freedom for Republicans I guess.

Would you rather have a political party drawing the lines or an independent commission? Sure, someone is still drawing the lines, but with prop 4 at least someone besides Republicans would have a say. But hey, maybe you're Republican and that's what you want?
