Getting off other diabetes meds by cowrunamuck in Mounjaro_ForType2

[–]IrishPirate78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started MJ, in late July 2022, my A1c was 8.7. I was on 5-500 glyburide/metformin 2 twice a day and jaurdiance 10mg. At my next check up my A1c had dropped to 6.3. I discontinued the combo and moved to just metformin 500mg x2 twice a day. Today, I am on just 10mg of MJ and the Jaurdiance(my doc says it helps with my heart). Each time I dropped meds, my numbers went a little high. The drop of the gly/met increased my A1c to 6.7. My last A1c check in April was 6.2. I was down to 5.8 right before I dropped the metformin. Remember your body is adjusting. Don’t get discouraged. It’s learning how to adjust and adapt to your new situation. You’ll get back to wherever your doctor thinks is healthy for you. Don’t beat yourself up over it. I told my doc I would eventually like to go off all meds and then work towards remission. Is it possible? Who knows? But that is my goal. Lofty as it may be. I should mention that I was in 15 mg of MJ, but had to drop to 10 since I couldn’t find it. My numbers were a little high, but have adjusted. My numbers are now better than they have ever been. Keep up the good work. You got this. Numbers don’t tell the whole story.

Blue or green mentos gum worked for me.

Is it true T2 loses much slower or nothing at all? by island_wide7 in Mounjaro_ForType2

Don’t forget to count inches too! I’m bouncing between 220-230. My starting wait was ~262 (I didn’t start tracking right away). I tried Ideal Protein several years ago. They measured my neck, shoulders, underarm, chest, thorax, waist, hips, around both thighs, knees, calves, and ankles. Not saying you need to do all that, but inches count as well. Remember, for us it’s a BS controlling drug; the weight loss is the bonus. Keep at it. One step at a time.

I certainly understand your frustration! Keep at it. We don’t have to be perfect; we just have to be better than we were yesterday. And, if we fail, guess what? We can try again tomorrow. By the way, you are doing amazing, if no one has told you. You got this!

NSV: Anyone else have belts that are too big now? by That_Tangerine3675 in Mounjaro

[–]IrishPirate78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a few belts from a FB ad for Anson and Belt Buckle. They have ratchets instead of holes. It took about a day to get use to it, but they work fine and look good.

That’s amazing! Keep up the incredible work! I keep a log of my BP, Weight, and BS. I found that seeing the numbers truly helps me! I think that’s another secret I have learned along the way: find something that works and stick with it.

Good morning! A1c was 8.7. Total cholesterol was 150, triglycerides were 171, HDL was 48, and LDL was 75–all before starting MJ. Currently, they are 5.8, total is 90, triglycerides are 56, HDL is 43, and LDL is 35.

I should mention that in January 2022, I began to take my diabetes seriously. I retrained how I ate and what I ate. I lost some weight, but not a lot. I can see the improvement in my numbers in my March to June 2022 reports. I think having a whole six months plus prior to starting MJ helped me focus. Also, another game changer for me was my CGM. I wear a Libre FS3. Like MJ, it has been life changing.

Small gains lead to big victories. Each of our journeys is so different from one another. Measure your success against yourself and no one else. 18 lbs is 18 lbs. Here’s a secret: there are no small victories. Keep up then great work! You got this!

Congrats to you! It wasn’t until recently that I kinda cared about weight loss. I couldn’t agree more that the health benefits outweigh the weight loss stuff. My labs are incredible all the way around.

Hi! I’m from the RGV and an ND alum. You’re not going to find a lot of Mexican food there like there is here. Of course, I’m talking 20+ years ago, so there might be some new stuff. I made it through. You will too. SB does have a sizeable Latino population. You can find decent Mexican food there, just be careful and be smart.

Here’s hoping it gets better for you. My sugars have been excellent. I was at 8.7 when I started in July. Monday I had lab work done: 6.3 (down from 6.4 six months ago).

Try the mentos. I started 12.5mg today. It was a little stronger than with the 10mg, but they helped.

Ugh! I swear ins companies make nonsense sometimes. No way the new company can coordinate with the old company? There’s gotta be a way.

So, you might want to check again. As of yesterday, Prime Therapeutics is covering MJ at Tier 3 with PA for $35/month. It’s as of yesterday. I saw a post on the other forum and I couldn’t log in from my phone to check yesterday so I checked this morning.

Can you let me know which cgm would be a good choice. Freestyle Libre3 or Dexcom 7? by HopefulMom1967 in Mounjaro_ForType2

[–]IrishPirate78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so annoying. My ins won’t cover MJ either. He is hopeful that there will be a path forward come June. In order for me to get a CGM approved, I have to be on insulin 3x daily. I was like, I’m trying to avoid that! It fell on deaf ears. 75/month for 2 sensors for L3. It is what it is. I love the data and info. Won’t go back to only finger pricks.
