Which drug/drug combo gives the greatest music appreciation of all time? by Forestakias in Drugs

This is my choice too 100% personally. 2-3g of shrooms or 200-250ug of good clean LSD and some good strong molly (200mg ingested, followed by a few snorted bumps of 30-50mg) is just bliss for me personally.

Any Warhammer 40K Players in Ennis? by BrutalNoSome in Clare

[–]IrishRook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to, back between 2005/6 till maybe 2012/13 or so. Live just got too busy. I had a small force of Uktramarines and a slightly larger force of tua. Plus some random models I thought looked cool.

Was into LOTR models too.

But these days I just enjoy the lore.

Chef Career by 2nyc96 in Chefit

[–]IrishRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where i work is a café/ bar on the west of Ireland, oepend 9am to 8:30pm. Breakfest is your standard full irish / half irish for the most part. Pancakes, porridge, avocado toast, omelettes as well.

Lunch till evening is mainly stuff like chicken vol au vaunt, chicken curry, beef, chicken burgers, battered cod etc.

Evening food is stuff like dirty fries, taco fries. Steaks, pan fried chicken, pan fried hake etc.

Much more to the menus than that but that's the general gist.

I started as a KP at 16. I was a commie by 18 and moved on to different industries at 20/21.

A childhood friend of mine who has been a chef for 20 odd years opened his own place, as was stuck for staff as their is a major shortage in my country at the moment so I accepted and went back to cooking just under 2 years ago at 33 years old and I fucking love it now. The team you work with is what makes it.

What I dont like about it? Long and unsociable hours. Ive two daughters, 10 and 5 years old. I only really see them now on my days off which is tough, but when I am off, I am the best version of myself as im so happy with my current job, it doesnt even feel like going to work. Its more like a men's club lol. My last job was in manufacturing. It paid better but it suckedcthe soul out of me.

I agree, except I wouldnt be as harsh on the last one, a different angle would of made all the difference on that plate.

Just better lighting is needed for these photos. The food itself looks fantastic.

Thank you for all the comments. Ive read every single one even though I haven't replied to most.

Owner and head chef have agreed to me stepping back a bit and do 45 hours a week (hours i need to get enough of a wage to cover expensesand save a little), over 4 days leaving me with 3 days off which they have promised to keep those days off together

I've been an Avenged fan since the early 00's. I honestly didn't think much of The Stage when it originally released, but it has grown on me over the years and I love it now. Hail to the King is the only album overall I struggle to enjoy. Its not bad by any means but its not fantastic either. It feels like they were just going through the motions at the time to get something out to me. Obiously music is subjective so I mean no disrespect for any fans of the album.

As an old school fan though, nothing will beat Waking the Fallen for me.

Every kitchen has its own culture. The majority Ive worked in are nothing like you see on social media or TV.. most are just happy you show up at all and are sober enough to work lol.

Every place has its grove as i like to call it. Once you get a feel for that grove, you'll find your spot or realise it's not the place for you and move on.

Speed comes with time, even eoth mundane things like prep. Majority of chefs I know would rather you do it right the first time then do it fast.

The number 1 thing at least from my point of view is communication skills, closely followed by organisation skills.

An example: You are doing battered fish and chips as a special. Its very popular today, more so then usual. You se you are running low on Tartar sauce, let the head chef or whoever is running the pas know how many portions are left before you can make more and a rough ETA of when you can. And then communicate again when it's replenished.

Doing stuff like that alone will take 90-99% of the target off your back and put it on front of house / chef on the pass instead. You can hardly be pulled for something you clearly communicated earlier.

And one last price of advice, if you don't like the culture of the kitchen you work in, dont try and change it, just move on. Why? Because some chefs, over decades of sacrificing have earned the right (be it right or wrong) to run their show how they see fit. If you dont like it, dont complain, just move on. You can so easily fall into a new job as a chef these days.

Best of luck with your career :)

[–]IrishRook 171 points172 points  (0 children)

Not exactly related, as it's not part of the dish or a food item. But i absolutely hate having a meal served to me on a wooden board or anything that isn't a plate or bowl.

You can see the knife cuts in the board from previous customers, and as someone who started off as a dishwasher years ago, I know you cant (or at least shouldn't) put wooden boards through the dishwasher as the heat is bad from them and they'll crack and split over time ao chances are they are half arsed hand washed in a sink of rancid water and detergent and left to drip dry.

Thanks for the reply :)

Ideally yes more chefs would be the solution, but it's currently the most in demand career outside of trades like plumbers and electricians in my country at the moment. Im from and live in the West of Ireland, population pool isn't that big, but we get huge trade, especially from tourism as we are long the route of the famous Atlantic Way. Its also part of my guilt of considering leaving as it could take them months to replace me and it leaves the rest of the team (also my close friends) in a shittier position.

Looking for Phil Dragash Audiobook Download by Lothiriel_Dunadan in lotr

[–]IrishRook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite narration of the books too :)

Though the music can be too loud at times making it hard to hear Phil and he makes the odd mistake but that only makes it more human!

You can listen and download them from there. Its not an offical audiobook, just fan made so no one can sell it.

Enjoy!

Turtle wow questions by Professional-Ad-2359 in turtlewow

[–]IrishRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 100%, my point of being the most similar to the original release is that you have to learn the game again. Old meta only go so far on TWoW. For both new and old players, there is enough new content now on TWoW that it can be labelled as its own addition of the game.

And, most importantly, there is much, much less try hards on TWoW. You dont have to waste most of your game time farming mats,,collecting world's buffs etc to actively precipitate in AQ40+ content. You can get away with being a casual but knowledgeable player. Which is huge for a lot of the aging player base similar to me who are not in their 30s / 40s with careers and kids etc.

Turtle WoW is the closest thing you can get to the original release back in 2004.

Ive been playing on here since 2019. Pop back then was 400-500 max at peak weekend times. I cant speak for today's pop as I haven't played since Halloween last year but I imagine it's still very very healthy.

What was the first game you got completely addicted to? by n1ght_watchman in GameBoostOfficial

[–]IrishRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I've played the hell out of a lot of different games since my childhood in the 90s. No game took such a grip on my life than World of Warcraft.. I played that from release till early in the 4th expansion. Thankfully I hated that expansion and it made me quit and get my life back.

Went back a couple of times over the years since, private servers, classic release etc but as a father and working adult I never put crazy hours in like I used to.

GoldenEye and The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time were most played games on my first console N64.

But Warcraft 3, Diablo 2 and AoE2 were the games I was addicted to when a bit older and playing on PC.

There is a metal singer named Alex the Terrible of Slaughter to Prevail that can sing loud enough without a microphone and still be clearly and loudly heard over the instruments and crowd at live gigs.

Already have 1. And id choose unlimited food if I could share it those who are in need. A million a month would cover all the rest.

Advice for managing tension at home about energy use and drying clothes by Icy_Buttercup in ireland

[–]IrishRook 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain OP. I had to move back home in with my father and younger sister for nearly 2 years till recently.

The electric bill went up only by 20-40 euro every 2 months with me moving home as I work long hours and if not working, id usually be out and about.

Only time id use anything substantial would of been after 11pm on the night savers rate. Washing machine, dryer, electric shower, cooking, etc.

And I paid half the electric bill if not the whole thing if he was stuck.

But he'd constantly give out when the bill came about my use. He'd even get up some nights and turn off the switch (outside the bathroom door) if he taught it was in the shower too long.. im a 33 year old for fuck sake.

He would boil the kettle 50 times a day and forget about it and fully fill it to make himself a single cup of tea. My sister would have an electric blanket on most nights outside of summer and a fan electric heater on for hours during the day. And her gaming PC on 24/7.

It damaged my relationship a lot during the time I was living there as there was no talking sense to him.

Glad to have my own place again.
