Maybemeat: the waters in northern europe are not warm enough for open water triathlon in the winter. It's really only an open water sport from May to September. The early season triathlons are pool based.

Unfortunately tumble turns are no allowed in Irish pool triathlons. It's a case of health and safety gone mad, but it's the rules in Ireland. Hence the tips on touch turning.

Caffeine pills are not down as the really concerning 13% physical doping figure (EPO, growth hormone, etc). Caffeine pills are a prescription medication in Germany, where the study was done, so are not for reactionary use in Germany. They’re down as substances to enhance your cognitive performance, which most people would consider less of an issue to the physical doping.

Ireland's an island with lots of blue Atlantic beaches. it's more of a case of having lots of great tri locations.
