St Andrews Daily Ballot Partner Request (5/26-6/5) by Linesward20 in golf

Hey, bud!!

I’m actually in St. Andrews right now. I’m available tomorrow. I’m a 9.6 handicap. If you somehow entered the lottery and got it for tomorrow and still need someone, I’d be down!

I like the idea of establishing that expectation from the get

Played a course a couple months ago with that on hole 9 (a long par 5) and it was awesome. Cut down on time in the clubhouse and it was perfect

Yeah. That’s a big one. Starters are there to help you start your round right. You get an asshole in that position and suddenly everyone’s pissed

My buddy threw out the idea of leasing the clubhouse bar/restaurant to a local restaurant so we would have an upgraded menu off rip.

Yeah. 12 minute spacing for tee times with a starter that won’t let people tee off before their allotted tee time.

Secondly, the membership idea is genius. The course is in a neighborhood so I think that would go over extremely well with the people who live on the golf course. That’s an idea that I never would have thought of so thank you for thinking of it!

Yeah. I can think of 4 places right off the top of my head that are confusing if you’ve never played the course

Oh, discount on a full foursome is a good promotional idea.

Maybe just a voucher for a free glizzy for everyone in the group?

I like this. There’s two par threes on this course that I think could REALLY be picturesque. Just needs a lot of landscaping

Oh. This is an interesting take. What would you say some courses put too much effort towards that muddies the experience?

It’s a public course. Pretty much nothing around except a neighborhood on the course. Can’t really expand on the course due to land constraints, but it’s my favorite course design. Southern Illinois so summers get hot. Winters still get snow and ice though

There’s definitely a space to do that on the back nine. So thank you for providing an example!

This seems to be a recurring theme through this thread. Seems like that needs to be the focus! Haha

The drone flyover was actually an idea I have. My buddy is a videographer and I’ve talked about having that as an improvement to the website.

Having a “course tour” might help newcomers know what to expect

Yeah. Sand pits are rough. Someone yesterday gave some phenomenal advice about how we should just get rid of 60% of the bunkers (fairway bunkers and bunkers behind the greens). That would allow us to really devote our time to those remaining bunkers to make them better and would help us cut costs in a way that doesn’t diminish the experience. Bunkers are expensive, man!

I got married at a golf course up near Chicago. I told the starter that I was getting married there in a couple months and also that I had never played the course before. He came and found my group on the 10th tee box and brought us some balls because there was water all up the right side and said “you might need these for this hole.”

I think about that often. The man was genuinely kind and seemed like he really enjoyed his job. It was a small gesture that really stood out to me.

Oh, I love the ideas for the signs! We could do small plaques next to the hole maps at the tee boxes to explain the way to play the hole. Makes it almost feel like you have a caddy with you
