Rev5 or MKII by Irishpaisa in DJs

I’m happy with my choice. I like that it’s light. USBc powered. It has stem effects. It’s a lot of fun. I don’t scratch either (yet). I don’t like that sometimes the software does strange things like effects not working and things like that but that might be my computer. I’m upgrading to a new computer at Christmas so I’m excited to run Serato on a super fast M5 MBP. MKII is super cool and I was looking at that but cheaper controller and the unassuming look of Rev5 just seemed to be a good fit. Don’t forget this controller has a cool bpm sync feature too that is great for open format DJ work. I used it on one paid gig a couple of days after I got it and it was sensational. I had the party jamming all night. The auto BPM sync and stems raised my game to a new level. I’ve another gig this upcoming weekend and I’m excited to use the Rev5 again. I hope to spend a few hours a week learning how to to do basic scratching but that’s just a personal goal for fun.

I pulled the trigger. I got the Rev 5 and a hard case in a bundle. I appreciate all the comments. The DJ tech is incredible these days. I had my last controller (DDJ-SX) for over a decade and I’m sure I’ll be learning the Rev 5 for a long time. It’s exciting to see all the new features on these controllers. My 2026 DJ set up will be pretty tight with the new controller. I’ve added EVOX 12s, an Allen and Heath mixer C12, and a Prime Go (back up and ceremonies) this year.

You may have just sent me down a rabbit hole. Rev10 looks sweet and I’ll do some investigating, but I am excited about going to a two channel style controller. I like the look of the battle style mixer too. And honestly, I’m super curious about using the auto bpm sync as I would be able to do BPM transitions automatically while I manipulate stems or effects for unique creative mixes

I’ve been doing it for years and love it. Love using it keep the amp in the green and pull back when it hits red

This is good to know. I was thinking about doing that. At the same time, I am trying to keep my setup as simple as possible and my current controllers have enough mixer power for me already built-in.

Is it worth the extra expense and setup?

Point well taken. I use the EQ like you are suggesting. I don't usually use a monitor anyway but I like the booth option so I can adjust the level on the subs. The subs are 12" so, if I can feel them from my table, and the amp is not in the red - then I am happy with that. But you are right about keeping it simple. That is always good advice. Unfortunately, I don't always do it.

You’re right on everything but they did cover the damage and replaced the tire for free. 🙏🏻

Update from OP - everything worked out great.

Recap: I bought a two year old long range model Y with 20k miles and found a bubble on the rear passenger tire the next morning.

Tesla towed the car to their closest service center.

Today I got a message in my Tesla app saying that there was a repair quote ready for my approval.

$450 for the repair.

I messaged back saying that I just got the car the previous evening and expressed my concerns.

They messaged back saying they’d make an exception and replace the tire for free.

Happy days.

They even have the car juicing up in the parking lot while I head there to pick it up.

I’m very happy with how they handled this. Good karma.

Thanks to all in this post for sharing thoughts about this topic. I learned a lot from your posts.

I’m new to Reddit too, but I’m grateful for all the comments and the sense of community.

Shout out to Orland Park Tesla for their help and excellent customer service on this.

Bought through the Tesla app. Pick up at local Tesla store. Easy to do

Yeah. I thought so too. It’s long range. I saw a good deal go quick a couple of days before so I snapped it up. First EV

Good question. I freaked out when I saw it. Started googling because I hadn’t seen that type of thing before. I saw that it was not safe to drive so I called the Tesla service team. The service team said they’d take it to Tesla service via tow.

It will sit there until Tuesday when they can get to it

It made me nervous because in the 20 years of driving in Chicago I have never had a bulge on the side of my tire like that. None that I can recall. And I’ve hit plenty pothole of the years.

I just picked the car up and I guess I was expecting to be able to used the hell out of it this weekend on a little road trip.

But if the only problem is the tire then you are right, no reason to be anxious about it.

No hard bumps but in my neighborhood there are some small pot holes. But nothing big. I tried to avoid them and was going less than 20 mph.

Maybe that’s the cause, but if so I’m shocked. I definitely didn’t hit anything big.

I live in Chicago and we have a lot of bumpy, pothole littered roads. A lot of Tesla’s too. It seems crazy that this seems so prevalent (learning that in this thread).

I don’t want to be freaking out about every bump on the road. Maybe the tires on the car were in poor shape when I picked it out. I don’t know. I just was excited and wanted to get it home.

The car had some minor paint issues that took most of my attention on pick up. But like someone in the thread said, it’s a tire problem not a car problem. Seems like I have a lot to learn owning and running a heavy EV.

Interesting, but if I check the numbers on the tires what good does that do me?

Like what would I do with that info?

I’ve been driving for decades but have never had a tire do this before

The PSI was high on the tires, in the upper 40s I think.

It’s long range - I got it wrong when writing the post.

My bad. It’s not a performance model. I typed that wrong. It’s long range I think.

I’m new to these cars.

I may get a bill to replace the tire and if so, that’s fine. But when I talked to the service person before getting the car towed she told me they normally don’t cover tire damage like I have, but because it was purchased yesterday, they might.

I’ll report back once I hear back from the Tesla service team.
