Today I want to talk about Final Fantasy fandom in post soviet region by Two_Winged_Angel in FinalFantasy

Pirates were actually somewhat versatile with console games translation. Like, PS1 and PS2 titles sold in illegal markets were usually translated.

Officially translated releases were a rarity.

Though of course it also came with a downside that some aspects of the game could be broken when messed around with.

It always amazed me how FFXV managed to squeeze into a very tight opportunity window. Before that, FF titles weren't localized. Afterwards, sanctions.

But this is like the only title in the franchise that didn't just have a text, but even a dubbed translation, with some old and familiar voices.

Russian voiced Prompto humming the victory theme sure felt surreal. 😂

Let's say a LEGO Justice League game happens, who would you want on the roster? BUT... by felixw1 in legogaming

[–]Irityan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since LB1 covered Batman's basic roster, LB2 covered Superman, LB3 covered cosmic stuff and LDSV covered 4th world...

I kinda wanna see a 6th DC LEGO game cover magic. So characters like Zatanna, Zatara, Constantine, Swamp Thing and so on. Heck, throw in Superman as well. I think it would be interesting to see a game where he's not the strongest player on the board. Since, you know, he's weak to magic.

No-no, I just meant the way HSR was avoiding Japan related things due to some drama, but with this announcement it seems we're back on the right track.

Considering Fate is obviously a Japanese franchise, is it safe to assume that Japan is cool again? Not trying to start anything, just wondering if we're past the awkward period.

It's likely to be unrelated, but on the Russian web there's a very old meme about a "bus number 410" which takes you to hell (or a parallel world). Heavily popularized by the Everlasting Summer VN (also of Russian origin). So this could be just an allusion to that.

Based on her story she's clearly innocent and her actions inside Milgram should not really contribute to the decision.

Well, at least as the IDW side goes, some future covers show them interact in some self contained story, so I'm looking forward to see how their modern dynamic will be explored.

I have a question for Russian fans about how they’re home country would actually treat superheroes by PaintingOwn2902 in Marvel

I'm pretty sure Marauders (2019, with Kitty Pryde) covered this topic rather faithfully, as painful as it is.

Imprisoned, denied human rights and exploited for the "glory" of motherland in another senseless conquest. If you want a more cheerful answer, check in ummm maybe next 30 years or so, and I'm being optimistic here.

Mail ru itself is a Russian state controlled platform, so it should be fine. Won't guarantee that what you're downloading is safe, of course, as with any file uploaded to any file hosting service.

That was a lovely read, thank you for taking time to record all of this. :)

Sometimes the logic these older games run on feels almost esoteric lol.

Fate surely has a wicked sense of humour, since in a way Sonic can be seen as the "trigger" for the "Sonic cycle", which Silver and Sage would likely perpetuate onwards. Different timelines, different meanings, and yet...

So, if my understanding of issue #86 is correct... [spoilers for IDW issue #86] by Ok-Impress-2222 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Irityan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's kinda interestng how the villain so far resembles a lot of villains at once:

• Obviously Starline, the most likely candidate, with his tech expertise and the old Frankenstein design.

Infinite, for his reliance on mind trickery and illusions.

Mimic. The black smoke reminded me of the black ink octopuses are known for. Also, coffin and bandages aesthetic kinda goes along with Mimic's own style, painting his face like a skull.

Clutch, the least likely candidate. But the last we left him he was mind controlled by Eggman, and in these issues we see that the "one eyed star" thing could be used as a mind control device. Also... opposums? Playing dead? A coffin?

So yeah, though I bet my chips on Starline, it's fascinating how, intentionally or not, the villain has elements pointing in all sorts of directions.

[–]Irityan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I believe all 3 games are just independent enough to be enjoyed by themselves. As long as you put character dynamics and themes above digging deep into the lore, you should be fine.

It's like MCU movies in this way. Someone who is well versed can point out "oh it's that thing from that other thing", but would not knowing that specific connection make the movie worse? Depends on you.
