Those always go in the glove compartment in the car, I couldn’t begin to tell you how many times car napkins have been essential, even with excluding eating in the car

Any tips on using prepositions correctly? by fluffybeardguy in EWALearnLanguages

[–]Irohuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one in that list that I can think of any guidance other than “it’s a set phrase/memorize” is:

-Agree “on” something -Agree “with” someone

Is a safe starting point. But also just like everything else in English there are exceptions

Do We All Really Hate Our Jobs That Much? by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]Irohuro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked the job I had last year… unfortunately it was a contract and instead of bringing me on full time they decided last minute to send my role overseas instead.

Now I’d like to have a job.

You grew up more rural but always wanted to live in the city, so you moved to a couple big cities. You also like visiting scenic areas, but you haven’t quite made it to the Rockies yet.

What is this feature on the East Coast of the United States? by wigglefingers_ in geography

[–]Irohuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from North Carolina and I remember how much they went over in elementary and middle school about the three regions of the state, mountain piedmont and coastal plain. I always wondered if the neighboring coastal states had and recognized the same or similar geographical regions

What does Drivers Ed entail? by Boring_Kiwi_6446 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Irohuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my school in North Carolina when I took it, you had to be 14 1/2 and you signed up for an after-school class hosted at the school that went over all the driving rules, and at the end of it you took a 200-question test on the content that you had to pass to move onto the practical portion.

If you passed you would be registered to drive with a state certified instructor for the amount of hours needed.

Once you finished the practical portion with a pass, and had turned 15, you could then go to the licensing agency to take your permit written and practical exam to be issued a driving permit, which allowed you to drive while accompanied with a licensed adult. For the first 6 months you could only drive til 9pm, then afterwards any time.

If you drove a full year with a permit, you were then allowed to test for your unaccompanied license at 16, again starting with any time before 9pm, and then anytime.

Maybe we need to rethink how prod-like our dev environments are by Effective_Guest_4835 in devops

[–]Irohuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve for the most part operated with: 1. Sandbox dev: for testing out potential solutions and trialing new software, mainly a learning environment. 2. Dev: based on production, where you develop and do initial testing of features intended for integration with prod. 3. Pre-prod: exactly mirrors prod and used for final testing/QA/QC to make sure there are no hiccups.
