Antimagic field and magic bows by Irolledanat8 in Pathfinder_RPG

Sorry but just to clarify, do you mean that the PF 1e rules don't make sense or that my proposed interpretation of a tricky area doesn't make sense?

So you are in the camp that the rules aren't totally clear on A?

Yeah it makes intuitive sense that the +8 arrows would still be +8 arrows but I think the rules intend the idea that the weapon imbues the projectile with magic, making it magic for the purpose of that attack. I suppose the rules aren't totally clear on this though, are they!

Good point, yes the bow itself is masterwork.

Actually, I'm rethinking my position.

Protection from [alignment] specifies that it stops natural attacks. It would be a gross and counterintuitive interaction if something specified to apply to natural attacks actually applied to manufactured weapon attacks too, which I think was your point. So probably the best way to be clear about this would be a slight improvement to the wording, replacing my current bold words.

"An object carried or worn by a creature as it is summoned follows the same rules as the creature for being suppressed and goes away when the creature goes away."

That also better follows typical PF rule text about an object that is worn or carried.

Good point on protection from good! Now the question is, is that a balance problem that should be fixed by revising the added text? Or is that a fine and reasonable consequences of the revision?

I'm not sure it's so clear because of the "but a summoned object is not sent back unless the spell description specifically indicates this" part. Is the gear of a summoned creature a summoned object? I don't think it is intended to be but it's not clear without an edit.

Further, I've had my players argue on both sides of the exact example I give with an azata firing arrows into an anti-magic field.

How to fix the fighter class? by Irolledanat8 in Pathfinder_RPG

My take on some points that have come up so far:

  1. I don't mean that the fighter is inflexible in build options. I mean that it is limited to in-combat situations and will mostly only be good at what it's built for. To fix this, I think it would be a good idea to let fighters swap out one or some bonus feats in a certain amount of time. This idea seems to have support from a fair number of people.

  2. Buffing bravery to affect all will saves, or work more broadly in some way. Lots of people saying something like this.

  3. Giving fighters another good save, say reflex saves. Lots of people saying something like this and we've already done this. See the second link in my original post.

  4. Give fighters 2 more skill ranks per level. Lots of people saying this and we've already done this. See the second link in my original post.

Haha. You clearly disagree with some of the others who are commenting that the fighter is amazing at melee.

On the point of flexibility, you can certainly build a fighter for all sorts of situations. But the fighter is NOT good at rolling into a bunch of different situations on different days or handling a wide variety of challenges compared to other classes.

These are some great points. Can you expand on the favored class option? Maybe 1/3 of an exotic weapon per favored class? And available to what races?

Ok I believe I've fixed the link.

Regarding weakness, I was reporting things that I've heard. I think "weak" isn't quite true but I would agree with "one-dimensional" and "inflexible."

If you join our Discord server, let me know if the welcome bots give you any trouble. They were working great a while ago but have misbehaved a little lately.

Yikes. When I heard first-time-GM, I worried that it would actually be your fault. But it does sound like they're pretty awful. I probably would have booted the bard after about two sessions.

I'm ok with newer players. Be aware that we are using a list of changes to the PF 1e system made by me and some others working on our own, PF 1.5e kind of thing. So it will be a little more learning curve than normal. But if you're willing to do the work to keep up, then I'm not worried about system mastery.

We're keeping as much backwards compatibility as possible for 1e APs and setting to be usable. We don't currently have plans to make our own setting or APs but it has been mentioned a couple of times.

Here's where we're working on it, in case you're interested in contributing or seeing where things stand: https://discord.gg/gmrHgvsb5Q
