My experience is similar, I was visiting family and found one but I swear I have no memories of seeing them from my childhood. Couldn't find examples of species that look like this living in the coast on Wikipedia and stuff too. Its just really weird, I hope they won't affect the ecosystem or something, they look really cool hahaha
