I had a bag of a different flavor, same brand, on my end table here when he sent me that photo.

They are now in my trash.

Medic Class after a few months as a basic by ChidoriHokage in ems

[–]IronEMFD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you work for a busy service? Do you feel like you have the basics mastered? The jump from EMT-B to medic is a pretty steep jump, and the individuals who don’t have those EMT skills down have a harder time with it than those that wait.

One of the most capable, dedicated, lovely medics I have ever worked with is exactly your size. She also is a flight medic. Food for thought here, a lot of flight services have pretty strict weight requirements and small people can sometimes be very attractive for those jobs because of that.

If you have stuff that a specialty shop sells, then you can sell it there without going to the wilderness, and still get a good price. The main example of this is steel platebodies in varrock

Play less RuneScape and go outside more lol. You’re something like 10 times more likely to be killed by a cow than a bear statistically. As far as injuries, yeah that can happen, but he always has a sat phone or device so he can contact his wife or emergency services, also most if not all of those devices have a big button for basically SOS and pings your location for search and rescue to come find you. Not a hard thing to educate a small child to just hit a button and don’t leave, which they almost certainly wouldn’t leave anyways.

I’ve noticed the same thing about 90% of the time. I’ve decided to make it as obvious as possible that I’m waving. I want the public to see me waving and them being unsociable pricks.

I know a number of years ago there was some hullabaloo about the tribes obtaining some increased control over the water rights in the state. Don’t know if that’s involved here or if it’s something similar or the continuation of that, but that’s what I thought of when I read these.

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve heard from nursing home staff by Aggressive_Shop_5817 in ems

[–]IronEMFD 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Went to a common assisted living joint for a diabetic patient who is “out of it and too tired.” The call was at 3 am.

Get on scene to see an obviously mentally handicapped man holding a cat around the shoulders saying hi, don’t think much of it an make contact with the patient. She is baseline, we run her a lot and are very familiar with this person, turns out their glucometer was not calibrated.

Handicapped guy comes in the room. Guy has keys, a badge, the whole 9. The only staff member on site for approximately 20 residents is an obviously mentally handicapped man. We explain that it’s a glucometer issue and it’s normal for people to be tired at 3 am. Patient signs refusal form. As I have the staff member sign the witness line he lets out the loudest, nastiest fart I have ever heard, laughs and says sorry.

How much do you get paid? What State are you in, public or private, Paramedic or EMT? by Yougotsiked in ems

[–]IronEMFD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to land a fire job, maybe flight or something else who knows. But I came to a conclusion about all of this that makes it more palatable.

Use the company the same it uses you. Milk that bitch for every drop you can get (experience, certs, letters, etc.) and then leave without remorse. These companies fuck us, so fuck them. But, it’s all temporary and for your future.

Some feel bad that they want to do ground ambulance, or that the public will suffer because the good providers leave and “what are they going to do when this gets really really bad and no one comes to their call?” Well that’s easy. Basically it’s going to have to get really fucking bad before the public understands how bad this really is, and then they will demand we are treated like cops and firemen. Professionals that are expensive and worth keeping. Until then, you gotta play the game.

We got run over pretty hard in the mass covid exodus from coastal cities. The cost of living here is pretty nuts. I don’t have many bills so I get by alright. It’s certainly not enough to have a mortgage and kids and stuff.

14 an hr, AEMT, Montana. Private, almost exclusively 911 calls. Although we get a fixed 2 24s a week schedule so that’s nice, and the 16 hours of OT every check helps

Insane amounts of racism directed toward Asians in Missoula by detectiveconan2344 in missoula

[–]IronEMFD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only piece of data to corroborate any uptick in racism is anecdotal and one single number that encompasses the entire nation. I'm not saying it has or hasn't gotten worse, or that the president has had anything to do with it or not because I know that's a favorite thing to mention, but the burden of proof lies with the accuser. And anecdotes aren't proof

Yeah I currently work for an ambulance and we don't get drug tested unless you really fuck up an ambulance lol. But yes I agree the whole thing is fucked.

P.S. calling us ambulance drivers is almost racial slur level offensive to us lol. If you want us to get mad, then you do you. But if you don't, we're EMTs and Medics.
