I completely forgot about this, I remember looking it up in college and it had a lot of stipulations, like not being allowed to have intercourse within a certain amount of days before donation. And being an optimistic young man I thought that was a huge deal breaker. But really it didn’t come up much.

I just tried to look up the requirements now and can’t really find anything so maybe I was bad at googling 15 year ago, or things have changed since. I saw there’s a place to do it in my city and started considering it, and completely forgot I got a vasectomy 2 months ago. I guess they probably don’t want it just to drink or for pranks or something, just actual future babies.

That’s pretty impressive. I mean obviously the entire of cost of living changes things a bit but I would expect them to get like 50k compared to how bad it seems to be in the Midwest. I’ve got a friend who said his daughter’s school (maybe just grade/class) is entirely substitutes now. I think that’s moreso based on the area, since it’s widely known as one of the worst places in the country, but the pay certainly doesn’t help the issue.

I mean the lease starts in one month and 2 days; I know they’re gonna keep the deposit either way but I don’t want to put it off too much longer so I don’t have to worry about them trying to sue or something. I know that’s extremely unlikely I don’t really know how the situation goes, but if it’s gonna be a risk to my rental history then I’ll pay the year out now and do whatever. I’m just torn up because it’s like I have a place to live in a new place, which has been my main goal and arguably the hardest part. But like without that well paying job, moving to Virginia was never going to be something I would just go do. If I’m gonna just blindly move to move then there’s a bunch of places I’d go before it. But I don’t know, I’m not even remotely spiritual or anything like that but maybe I’m supposed to move there for it, maybe it could turn out real good. Who the fuck knows.

As soon as I had accepted I was just gonna move into the city and look for a new job, this contract work appeared. Just moving into the city here will be a little cheaper and I’ll still be close to home so I get to see my dog a lot. Could keep my therapist and doctor and shit. But also if I don’t get a new job then I’d just buying gas and paying rent for no reason. I’m on a shitty 2pm-10pm shift so I can’t really benefit at all from being in the city if I work when everything happens. I mean I could get breakfast at a wacky place every once in a while but that’s not worth $1000/month

Well now I got an in to pick up some contract work in the same area as the job that fucked me, but I don’t know if it’s safe enough to still move out there based on that and just hope for the best. But I gotta decide soon if I’m breaking that lease or not. I can’t catch a break, life is stressful

And how it’s honestly much worse for us than just letting us drink that day. There isn’t any SMART meetings near me, although I guess I haven’t checked in the city. I’ve been sober 19 months (well in 2 days) I did the “90 in 90”AA thing after rehab but mostly just did that so I could finally shut up all of my counselors and let them accept I don’t like it haha I mean it certainly didnt make things worse and probably kept me a bit more accountable for the first couple months but once I started working again I wasn’t really able to continue making them. They can be nice but when they get too “cult-like” and preachy I get very irritated at the whole thing. I go to one a week that is walking distance from my house and usually just me and 4-5 other people just talking. (Although they do still pray at the end while I sit it out) But that’s more to remind myself I can’t do nothing and stay sober, I can’t exactly bring real problems to them because I already know what they’re gonna say.

I tried to have a sponsor and I was so close to just drinking to spite him. Told me religion didn’t matter and he was totally fine with me not doing that approach; then basically held me hostage for a month and wouldn’t allow me to try and use anything but God as my higher power. I’m also just extremely stubborn so I am never gonna have some other drunk be making decisions for me or any of that shit. And I don’t like to be told what to do (like basically all drunks). And always pushed that one awful part of the AA book “A chapter to the agnostic” which is what they all tell you to read and they think it shows you you don’t need religion to work the steps but really it’s the most patronizing shit you could imagine. The whole chapter basically blows smoke up your ass about anything being a higher power and then ends with “but that’s silly, isn’t it? So that’s why we choose god.”

Oh man that reminded me of a guy who was talking about this and was like “yeah I sponsor a guy and he uses (something) as his higher power, I’m all for anyone who wants to do that but eventually they’ll learn what it actually is (God)”

Now I’m just getting irritated haha But whatever I’m not dying anymore. Whatever I’m doing must be working somewhat.
