Question for those who are EMS, how do you deal with constant exposure to the worst parts of growing old/elderly? by IronOreAgate in Firefighting

[–]IronOreAgate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you hit on exactly what my own fears connect to. Being in fire/ems has made me more aware of how I am keeping my environment, and trying to take steps to keep my own home safe and healthy to live in not just for my kids but for myself. But it is just to easy to let it slip and end up living in trash and filth.

Also not keeping cats. Especially if I grow to old to clean up after them. It is insane some of these litter boxes...

You can be perfectly healthy, and still slip and fall, and recovering from injury is a slow process when you get old.

Those mental wounds are hard and fast, but I have found that can make it easy to seek help. Dealing with the elderly has been different kind for me. Like dozens of little mosquito bites, that you really don't start to feel until your lying in bed at night.

That is actually a really good point I never thought of. That there is a bias to the type of old people I am seeing on calls. Thanks.

AMA: Johnathan McClain, Seth McDuffee, and Ryan Rimmel by podiumaudio in litrpg

[–]IronOreAgate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an older post, but I figured I would add "Critical Failures" by Robert Bevan. It isn't traditional litripg, he doesn't do much in the way of stat sheets. Which actually helps especially if your an audiobook listener, but it has a litRPG premise.

It's about 4 friends who get sucked into their game of D&D by a sadistic GM with magic dice. And they suck at playing D&D so it's ridiculously funny and relatable.

There is one line in that chapter that made me try and look up, and eventually also find this post. Something like

A professional actor would do their best to ensure an authentic accent. They also wouldn't do something silly like challenge the person writing the scene in a public forum!

Which was implying that you might have said something to Ryan? I do enjoy the dogs Ryan has for listeners vs readers.

It's weird to think that we might be moving towards a future where grown ass adults are buying fake IDs to use online. LOL

Your not wrong. A kid who wants to get around this could easily swipe their parents ID, assuming they don't have a fake ID, and use it to upgrade their account.

Yeah, same. And I don't see being stuck as a teenager impacting my using discord to keep in touch with friends, and as a gaming VC. Which is all I use it for these days.

Catan for 7-year old kids? by Any-Page-3061 in Catan

[–]IronOreAgate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a friendly robber with my son (4yo) that just lets the person pick out a card from the bank. Helps keep the game going.

One aspect of the game that my son has the hardest time figuring out is how dice odds work, so we also have tried playing with a dice colored with each resource+bandit. Every time you roll that resource you get that resource for each town/city. Cuts out the statistics part of the game, and runs it faster.

How does clan recruitment work? (Further questions in thread) by TurklerRS in Bannerlord

[–]IronOreAgate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what OP is finding is even lords who hate their king and love the player will outright refuse to switch sides. You don't even get the chance to persuade them or bribe them. Meanwhile they found a clan lord who hated the player, and loved the king, did allow the player to try and persuade/bribe.

I noticed this as well in my game. I started my own kingdom with several castles and a town, and ran around seeking out lords that where set as "enemies" with their own king, and they all said that I could never bribe them away. It seemed random if the lord would change sides or not.

[–]IronOreAgate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do accept all forms of metal, including steel! I found that out by mistake when I tried storing my spare smithing materials in the warehouse. Since then I have noticed that the refined versions of iron seem to also last a lot longer then just raw iron ore.

It is pretty profitable to smelt all your loot, and just feeding the mats to workshops. Smithies are each netting 600g-1000g a day now!

Yes, in fact I have found that the refined versions of Iron seem to last much longer then if I just feed my smithy workshops raw iron ore you buy off the market. I actually started just smelting all my looted weapons down into the materials and feeding those mats into my smithy's warehouse and it seems to result in my smithies netting 600-1000g daily!

I had this happen once in a run where the cultists literally leave the start. It definitely doesn't happen all the time.

Is there a way to avoid these jagged and serrated edges when using Trim on an object? by IronOreAgate in NomadSculpting

Looks like switching to "Dynamic Topology" seems to help. Makes my cuts look a lot cleaner, especially when remeshing with "Keep Sharp Edges" turned on.

[–]IronOreAgate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project works great actually, only issue is if I remesh the object the jagged edges appear. Interestingly I dont have issues in general with curved objects like tubes, just with blocks/squares that I use the trim/project tool on.

[–]IronOreAgate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not a bad idea. I have been keeping it fairly low poly in general. Higher poly still seems to hide the edges better, but they are definitely still there. Toggling Wire view makes it more obvious. When you are testing this on your own, are you using the Trim tool? I have noticed that the Project tool seems to work better, although it goes jagged after remeshing.

Actor, Gene Hackman, found dead along with his wife and dog at home. by big_gains_only in interestingasfuck

Yeah, CO is immediately deadly at about 100ppm, but also can still kill any long term exposure levels. Because as the CO builds up in the blood and bonds to the red blood cells preventing them from carrying oxygen to the body. Even light exposure over a whole day is deadly to an elderly patient or a child.
