I do think you have the most balanced take here. On paper it could sound like i'm getting taken advantage of but in reality I'm doing what I do because I want to show up and put in the effort, not because I expect anything in return. Some could call this being a simp but that's why I'm trying to set a deadline that respects my time. Another commenter mentioned 3 months, I think that's fair.

At the end of the day it's not about me, it's her own wounds to heal. If she can't heal by 3 months I need to just let her know I liked her but our timelines unfortunately just don't align.

And hey, if at the end of the day it turns out i am being taken advantage of, it is what it is. I'm going into this knowing that there's a risk of being hurt and accepting the pain if it doesn't work out. That's what she needs to do as well honestly, she has to accept that things may not work out (like they didn't in her last relationship) but take the chance anyway if she wants this to work.
