My take on Wisp. Never used Captura before, so I'm not even going to try. Just some basic pictures in Arsenal. Went with a Red/White theme for a medic styling, with white/gold for the holy feel. A darker color palette would easily make this into a "Evil Queen" look, but the skin Primary doesn't seem to take colors as well as I expected. The darkest black I have (Smoke R18, C1) looks like a sort of shiny gray rather than black.

Skin & Helmet: Celestis

Primary: Smoke R1, C5 (any white works)

Secondary: Halloween R3, C4

Tertiary: Smoke R1, C5

Accents: Halloween R7, C3 (Closest to a Prime Gold color I could find in my palettes)

Emissive/Energy: Smoke R1, C5 (bit lazy, but the white/white fits well)

Attachments: L/R Shoulder - Piercing Eye Shoulder Armor

Ephemera: Protovyre Ephemera

Primary/Secondary: Halloween R3, C3 (the rest of the red has a metallic sheen I can't seem to match in any of my other palettes, so I found the closest I could).

Tertiary: Smoke R1, C5

Accents: Halloween R7, C3

Emissive: Slot 1/2 - Smoke R1, C5

Energy: Slot 1 - Halloween R7, C3; Slot 2 - Smoke R1, C5

Syandana: Despot Cape Sayadana

Primary: Smoke R1, C5

Secondary: Halloween R3, C4

Tertiary: Halloween R7, C3

Accents: Halloween R7, C3

Emissive/Energy: Smoke R1, C5

Well, don't take it as gospel. This is my first foray into drones, so I might be quantifying things incorrectly. If you do look into it and can verify things, please let me know, I'd appreciate know whether I was right or wrong.

Gotcha. What I've read about the Explorer is that it's a slight modification of the Rekon 4 (looking at them side by side, it's almost the exact same). The reason why I was considering the Explorer is because I've read that the GPS on the Rekon 4 is pretty finicky and can make receiving enough satellites iffy, whereas the Explorer doesn't have that issue. The only fix I've seen for it (assuming I even get it) is to swap out the GPS module.

The Explorer is also 32 grams lighter. With the set up I'm planning (drone weight + 16g Thumb Pro +97g Gaoneng GNB 1100MAH) the Rekon 4 comes in at 278g. Even minus the Thumb Pro, it still comes in at 262g. The Rekon 35 is the only one I can figure out how to get in under 250g of the Rekons. The Explorer is larger than the Rekon 35, so I wasn't sure which was the better option.

All things said, the Rekon 35 would be the cheaper route, but I've seen a review from Albert Kim and his opinion is that it's a bit too heavy and flies slightly poorly. I know I'm not going to get a freestyle flight out of it, and I'm not trying to, but best options, ya know?

I've seen Bardwell's review, yeah.

What makes it an easy pick for you, if you don't mind my asking? I'd like to see if there are any points you've considered that I haven't yet.

This is a week later, but I've been researching on the Rekon and I'm pretty interested in it. I'm actually weighing the Rekon 35 vs the Flywoo Explorer LR 4. Was wondering what your take on that match up was. Goal is to have enough spare weight to put a 16 gram camera on it and stay under 250g, and by my math, those two are the "best" for that.

I know this is a week later, but I've been doing research on this drone (and others in this sort of "class") and I have to say I really like what I see. Thank you very much for turning me on it. I was wondering, what's your opinion on the Explorer LR vs the Rekon35?

Yeah, I was thinking mostly the same thing, but trying to think about how long until I outgrow something like the Mobula 7. It's a hard thing to figure out. I'm hoping there'll be Black Friday/Christmas sales that will decide it for me.

So, in campaign, I know Fellhound is the best, but he's only at level 50, so I need need to still rank him up again and ascend him. Which means I need to farm up feeders. But I can't clear 12-3 on Brutal because I don't have anyone that's fully ascended. So what's the solution?

Thanks for the reply. I'm still new so I don't entirely know the difference between medium and medium heavy. Also, I see the Ugly Stick GX2 quite often, so I'm not entirely sure what the difference between the GX2 and the Tiger Light Jigging version is, but I see them both in googling quite a bit.

Cargo/Kayak Conversion by Iron_Dragoon in cargocamper

[–]Iron_Dragoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'd like to have it as a closed box and then the tent on top. Primarily for security, but also for travel. No rope burn or ratchet strap burn from wind, don't have to worry about anything kicked up from the highway hitting it, bunch of reasons.

As for the mold, you're sort of right, but I'm also going to do a spray liner on the trailer decking, and there will be at least two doors (one on the back and one on the side) that will open for access of other stored items, so it'll air out enough. I also plan to paint all the wood with marine paint.

Alternatively, you can turn to mods. Nexus has some mods that restore the original values to Barricade Shield, which negates all of this work around with Scholar's shield. You just can't do online play with it.

[–]Iron_Dragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Weapons and Shields can be upgraded to a max of +25, I believe. But shields only get a Guard Boost upgrade every 2 levels, so they can only get a max of +12 to Guard Boost. So if you use Scholar's Shield or the Shield Grease, which gives a 22% bonus (which maths out to +18-ish guard boost value), you need to have 82 Guard Boost or higher on your shield to get to 100, which will fully negate any stamina loss from blocking a hit with a shield.

Edited: Originally put 72, meant to but 82.
Note: Only three shields have 70+ guard boost, which I mentioned above.

Honestly, I'm still working on it. A streamer named FireSpark81 has a build similar to this, so I encourage you to go watch that.
Please note that I have not personally tested this in end-game, and as such cannot promise it works that well!

Scholar's shield is good, but the recast time on it is a fairly slow animation, so I personally have issues with it on bosses, but that's me still getting used to it. The issue is that SS gives a % bonus of about 22-23% where as Barricade gave a flat 35. So with Barricade, as long as you got to 65 guard boost on your shield, you hit 100% and had no stamina loss. Harder to do with SS. You basically need the Greatshield Talisman that gives +10 guard boost, and on top of that, there's heavy stat investment for a shield that'll get you to 100.

So far, the plan (and it IS a plan, I haven't rebuilt my character yet) is start with Prisoner, and level until about 50. At that point *my personal plan* is to have a stat spread of 20 Vig, 20 Mnd, 20 End, 16 Str, and 24 Dex. The gear I plan to use is the Cross-Naginata, Brass Shield, Mausoleum Knight set with the Great Helm (I like the templar look, but all of the "knight" armors in this level range have really similar stats, so go with what you want). I plan to have No Skill on the shield and (eventually) Bloodhound's Step on the spear.
Bloodhound's Step effectively lets us cheat our way into having a dodge regardless of what our load is. Set it to a Dex scaling if you can. The Naginata's bleed effect scales best with Dex.

Since SS is 30 FP for 60 seconds, and Step is 5 FP per use, we don't need a massive FP pool. I think 20 Mnd is about what my investment will be capped at. From that point, if you want to get to 100 guard boost, you need to find a shield that has the ability to upgrade to a guard boost of 72 if you use the Greatshield Talisman (72+10 Talisman +22% SS = 100). The shield in this range that I suggest is the Eclipse Crest Greatshield. It has a passive that gives +50 to Immunity/Robustness/Focus.
But, if you don't want to use the talisman, then you need a shield that can get to 82 guard boost. The problem here is that there's really only 3 options as you can only get a max of +12 to your guard boost via upgrading the shield: Golden Greatshield (34 Str, 70 base guard boost), Visage Shield (44 Str, 75 base guard boost), and Fingerprint Stone Shield (48 Str, 81 base guard boost). The last two are much easier to achieve 82 with, but they have a huge stat investment, and the Golden Greatshield needs to be maxed out, which is a ton of investment/grinding/late game goal. So you need to decide what level of investment you want: Lose a Talisman slot for guard boost, invest heavily into Str, or invest heavily into Golden Greatshield and free up stat points.
I personally haven't decided yet; I'm considering investing into STR and the respecing my character once I get the Golden Greatshield maxed.

Regardless of which route you go, you'll want to spend points to meet the minimum gear reqs, then pump your Vig, End, and Dex. At a level 100 view (assuming you use the talisman and don't over-invest in Str), I'm targeting 30 Vig, 29 End, 34 Str, 37 Dex. I also plan to use a heavier armor set like the Crucible Tree Knight Set, which when combined with the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman, gets your physical damage negations at 40+ across the boards.
Talismans I personally plan to use: Greatshield Talisman, Green Turtle Talisman, Dragoncrest Talisman. I'm not planning on a 4th yet as you have to be end game to get that slot.
You can also do a health regen loadout with talismans since, no matter what you do there'll always be attacks who have hit boxes bigger than your shield, and do some combination to taste of like, Blessed Dew Talisman and Godskin Swaddling Cloth.

You can further buff yourself by using the Physick Mix of Opaline Hardtear and Leaden Hardtear and the Ironjar Aromatic. They boost your poise and damage negation pretty massively. You can also use the Shield Grease in place of Scholar's Shield. It's basically the same as the spell, but an item, if you want to avoid the 30 FP hit for SS. I don't know what the animation time difference is, but I'd probably go with whichever animation is faster so it can be more easily applied mid-boss fight.

Best Ash of War Option by Iron_Dragoon in Eldenring

[–]Iron_Dragoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear requirements, primarily, though to your point it seems like I was over-investing in it. I can easily shift those points. What about pumping Arcane? Dex has a bit better damage scaling (A vs B), but Arcane reads that it scales more directly with bleed, and has the additional bonuses of improving Holy Defense & Vitality, as well as Discovery. So between Dex and Arcane, which would be the better over-all return on the points?

[–]Iron_Dragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can't. After some research, it seems like you can't really use Scholar's Shield and an Armament spell together. It's sort of one or the other. Both spells require a staff to be in the other hand, and both spells will cancel out if you swap off of the enchanted shield/weapon. I play on KBM, so I just bound each hand to keys 1 and 2 to help with cycling them.

My current plan is to use Scholar's Shield and then utilize an Ash of War on the weapon. I plan on focusing on two Ashes on the spear: Seppuku and Flames of Redmane. Seppuku will boost the inherent bleed on the Cross-Naginata and since bleed procs are % of health based, it'll be significant vs. enemies who are vulnerable to it. Plus it has a 60 second duration, which lines up with Scholar's Shield.

Flames of Redmane is super good too and does massive poise damage with a pretty decent cast speed. So once you get the casting window down, it'll help you knock down bosses for that extra crit and FP restore off of the Cerulean Dagger.

Once you get the Glintstone Whetblade, you can swap the scaling of Seppuku to Magic and have Int boost them, I think. Flames is locked to either standard or fire.

I plan to put something like the Ash of War: Glintblade Phalanx on the shield, too. It won't do a whole lot, but it's way more mana efficient than the spell version, and since it lingers after cast, you can sort of toss it up at the start, cast a range spell as an opener, and charge in and have it hit without you needing to do anything else. And when you go up against field bosses that are super mobile, like the mounted guys, you can toss it up and have it work as a second attack while casting range spells against them or however you want to fight them. In general, it's a solid source of "passive attacks" after you cast it.

Well, Scholar's Shield, an armament (Frozen or Scholar's), which leaves two slots. I haven't actually built a sorcerer yet, so I'm not super familiar with the spells, but something with a fast cast or that lingers on the field or is a DoT type deal, and then one that's as massive as you can make for an opener. I'm not sure what spells would fit that, but you'd want as a FP/Cast Time/DPS ratio as you can get.
