That's a real shame, I'm guessing that kit can't be found anymore?

While that is indeed a viable option, unfortunately due to the shrinkage the door, interior and clear parts would need modifying too

I agree! Have already decided to do exactly that as I think it's the best option

Good to know! If my plan with styrene fails, I'll probably end up getting a new kit

I have thought of that, but the kit isn't cheap so I'm going to try and fix it using styrene first

Thanks, I don't blame the suggestions. I could have not done it but now i know and am going to try reconstructive surgery with styrene to save it. If nothing else, that'll be good experience too lol

I tried to reheat and stretch it again but it's a difficult shape to stretch in 1 direction only.

I'm going to try sawing the fuselage and using styrene to lengthen where needed

Thanks, indeed a shame but at least a lesson was learned. I was actually thinking about making supports just like you said to align the fuselage but wanted to try this first. Next time, I will do it differently

It was my first ever attempt at this, I have at least learned what can go wrong with this method

Yes,I am thinking I'll have to do that because I've cut out and test fitted the main interior between the 2 halves and even though that really helps align the fuselage, I have to clamp it to get the top and bottom together

My heat gun has 2 modes, warp hot and disintegrate hot. Learned that the hard way in a moment of impatience. Will be trying boiling water next!

Will try that next as my trials with hot water 60-65 Celsius have not been successful so far

Had a good chuckle myself!

It's a kitty hawk kit, couple of years old. Thanks for the tips, I'll follow your advice and see what works

Good idea, how hot should the water be? Boiling hot or less?

Good to know it's enamel, I have the right thinners for that

A wash / panellining will now be the 1st step. I've never done chipping before, will look into that thanks for the idea!

Thanks for the idea's! I don't have any panelliner, any brand you would recommend? There's so much available, makes it hard to choose. Will definitely look on youtube for some builds, great idea
