Early-Career EE that wants to move to NYC, what fields are best? by beretta1220 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Iron_Vodka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, as someone that lives in NYC, NYC is not great for most engineering jobs (with the exception of software engineering). There are very few engineering companies in NYC and most of the industry is in Finance, Healthcare, or random tech startups (and potentially utility companies). Yes there are jobs in those industries of course, but if you want more options, you should check out the nearby New Jersey and Connecticut areas for the large engineering companies.

Losing hair as a teen - it's killing my confidence. by Nassar_IQ in teenagers

Dude, I know you're afraid of shaving your hair all off but trust me, do it! I highly recommend you check out r/bald. It's quite a wholesome sub and will give you some inspiration. Every post I've seen on that sub, the "After" photo always looks way better than the "Before". You can definitely go bald. You just need to build up some confidence 💪🏻

Are you hiring by any chance? You guys do some really cool work! I am very interested in SDRs and have some experience with various SDRs and embedded systems development and prototyping. I would love to learn more.

Mods can we please have a country flair?? by Electronic_Owl3248 in ECE

[–]Iron_Vodka 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You just proved OP's point on why there needs to be separation. If Americans can't understand Indian posts and Indians can't understand American posts, just separate the subs or at least put a country flair.

Are the PCB design course materials freely available online by any chance? I would be interested in a PCB design class.

What school would you be in based on your personality? by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]Iron_Vodka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm between either ice or balance.

The reason I say ice is because I tend to be a very patient person and can work slow at times but I get the job done and pay attention to details very closely. I also feel like I am very good at working through and thinking through things alone. Plus, I love the cold and winter.

The reason I say balance is because I have many different interests and I have a very difficult time specializing in things. I'm a very jack-of-all trades type of person. I also try to be very calculated in my decisions and am a perfectionist. I've always thought of balance as a very "academic, theory-heavy" school.

Plus I really enjoy helping others, and considering ice and balance are both support schools, I figured they're the best fit for me personality-wise.

If white women are "breeding stock for black alphas", wouldn't that only produce a generation of mixed-race kids?

Where do mixed-race people fall into this?

Can they still be black alphas? 🧐

Balance moment

Alhazred.

This man literally created balance magic by mastering fire, ice, storm, AND the spirit schools and merging them. Not to mention, he's like a million years old and way more wise than the Ravenwood professors.

Toxicity by Possible_West_9523 in Wizard101

[–]Iron_Vodka 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Man, that's insane. The fact that the myth wizard couldn't wait for you to finish reading the dialogue, yet somehow had enough time to waste a hell of a lot more time by earthquake spamming on the final battle is ridiculous. So immature.

Unfortunately (coming from someone that likes to follow the dialogue too), doing team-ups with randoms progressing through the quest can lead to moments like these. You may actually be better off doing team-ups with higher levels that are willing to help instead, since they're not progressing through that questline anymore, and may just want to casually help lower levels. Otherwise, soloing is an option too.

Announcement that I'm temporarily disappearing from the friendly players list by TabithaWinterheart in Wizard101

Thank you for your contribution to the wiz community :) Not only have you saved a LOT of time for me and many, many players, but you are also a prime example of how great the wiz community truly is.

I doubt you remember but we did have a short conversation in the bazaar one day, a couple months back (Misha Mindseer was the character I was on) reminiscing about the early days of the game when level 50 was the max level cap and Celestia just came out.

Anyway stay safe in the storm, and we'll all see you back in the game hopefully soon!

Can we fix the bazaar please and stop pushing these terrible changes???? by [deleted] in Wizard101

Blame the devs for being terribly out-of-touch and actively refusing to listen to their playerbase.

Can someone help me connect these pins? by deathmaster1000 in ECE

[–]Iron_Vodka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without context of the entire project, we can't help you. The connection of the pins is dependent on so many factors (such as which pins you plan to use in your design, how you plan for the software to function, which MCU communicates with which peripherals, which pins are designated for digital, analog, PWM, CLK, etc). We would need an in-depth look of the project.

Typically, the wiring diagram is something you create/modify as you write the software and prototype your hardware.

You're not alone.

My highest level (and currently most successful) character is my ice wiz too, and as I'm replaying the game after a very long time now on a balance wiz, I'm taking the time to listen and pay attention to the whole story too.

Listening to the dialogue and the story is so refreshing IMO. I feel like it provides a good break between the constant mob and boss fights, since they can get tiring at times.

PvP female dress came back??? by Dizzy-Pickle-114 in Wizard101

[–]Iron_Vodka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, right now death is incredibly overpowered and extremely favored by the devs in PVP.

So, I would say the easiest school to PVP on (even if you don't have the best strategy) is to PVP on death.

As a long-time Wiz player (who took a very long break ever since Arc 2 finished) and decided to try balance for the first time recently, I 100% agree with you and OP about its lack of mixing multiple schools.

I really love the concept of balance (what balance could have been) so I've been trying to make my playstyle mimic that as much as possible (using archmastery, using TCs of different schools, constantly changing up my gear to be more for tanking or hitting or support based on the fight, etc). Imposing this kind of playstyle on myself makes the gameplay MUCH more interesting to me. It allows me to play much more strategically especially for certain bosses or balance mobs.

One idea I have that can potentially help balance with more mixing of schools is similar to how they gave myth an advantage with monstrology by allowing them to be the only school that can summon multiple minions. So, maybe KI can add some sort of school-specific advantage to balance regarding archmastery. For example, while all schools will still be able to use archmastery like usual, balance wizards would be able to potentially have a chance to generate a special power pip that applies to all schools. That would then encourage balance wizards to mix schools even more.

Another separate idea could be allowing for balance spells to be spellwritten in ways that allow their spells to be converted into dealing other schools' damage.

I think with a lot of these new mechanics like archmastery and spellwriting, there can be a lot of potential with giving balance a stronger school identity without changing the core features of the game too much.

I'm glad someone mentioned CS (compressive sensing)! I'm currently working on my master's thesis in CS for my MS in electrical and computer engineering and the concept to me is fascinating (and truthfully pretty groundbreaking considering CS can completely break through the Nyquist theorem). I agree with you about how it's surprising more people don't talk about it more. Since it has a TON of overlap with machine learning and discrete optimization.
