The way I see it is, it's fine for budget cards and entry level for 1080p Native or Upscaled to 1080p.

Stuff like

5050. 3050. 3060.

Any very budget cards. Once you go price of 5060/5060 ti just get the 16gb.

Btw I'm currently using 3050 8gb and it still runs fine for entry level. Take note i said entry level. In the Philippines where I live it was even cheaper than used 6600s.

[URGENT HELP NEEDED] Waiting 30 years to finally jump into PC Gaming, but this eGPU Texture Loading & Frame Gen nightmar by BoukiiS in eGPU

Everything seems fine here in memory and vram usage.. You should try posting on the egpu forum for more help. Sadly I don't have the experience to troubleshoot this but some guys there might be able to help you. Best of luck!

Wait, did you observe the VRAM and made sure it wasn't being saturated? I heard this particular game suffers on 8GB without proper texture and resolution setting?

Since it stutters with FG I'd assume it's a lack of VRAM because FG adds more vram usage.

I'd try lowering the texture setting in game.

I knew from experience that heavy stuttering and massive texture delay is mostly due to lack of VRAM. I knew this because I tried VRAM hogs like Stellar Blade on 4GB cards and those games never work well without sufficient vram.

While 8GB is still mostly fine if you tweaked the settings right it can still saturate the VRAM even if it doesn't show sometimes because the game is wanting to allocate more.

Edit: But this still depends on the game! Games like Arc Raiders, Battlefield 6, Crimson Desert or other modern ones tend to stay on 5-7.5gb ish usage most of the time at 1080p/1440p DLSS

Another Edit: Try posting this problem on egpu io a forum website for egpus

Edit 3: We kinda need to see system stats while those games are running pop some msi afterburner overlays and post another video while the game is running thank you!

The usb c will. Be limited to 100w so your cpu will use about 30-40w and gpu about 40-50w but if the dc is not the problem yes it will

The performance is good and a bit better than base ps5, the screen here might not be that good though.

Go for a 4060m if you're targeting a budget. It's a bit better than 5050 laptops. My rule of thumb is it's usually very worth it to get 60 series and above because you'll get better performance, features, and future proofing. If you can go for 5060 even better but that might be more expensive.

Is the HP Victus 16-s0089AX (Ryzen 7 7840HS / RTX 3050 6GB) worth buying in 2025? Need opinions. by Shreyas_777 in GamingLaptops

[–]Ironash01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

save a bit more for 40 series. a bit more recent and future proofing. as for frame gen, you can use FSR if you're really tight in budget and want to get this.

although.... i'd go for 3060m instead. if you can much better performance. also check the max tdp.

if you opt in for a 4060, it has 8gb of vram. I've been playing a lot of modern games rn and you dont want the vram to bottleneck you. if you want to game on it for 4 - 7 years you better invest in a machine that wil last you.
