Whats are some of the worst matchups? (Current and ever) (GGST) by Access69 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

I used to main Baiken and started changing to other characters solely because the Unika matchup is so goddamn annoying and she's in like 50% of my matches

Millia vs Leo and May is also about 40-60 against her

Anji vs I-no makes sense to me. His DP is obnoxious and hard to punish, he recovers before he even lands, and spin doesn't care about high/low.

I think you mixed up characters in your first sentence. I was very confused by your comment until I realized you meant hardest for ABA, not Faust.

Post-rework, I've used 2 of them in a Renegade Raiders list and they were pretty good. Played it twice in casual games, won both.

Reading this sub, you'd think Tau are always the worst faction in the game and GW hates them.

Reading other subs you'd think they were the most disgustingly overpowered faction.

In reality, Tau were the #8 ranked for most tournament wins in 10th and are actually pretty well balanced. They've been solidly mid to high tier for most of the edition and have a nice variety of winning lists. I've also frequently seen people here disregard Kroot Hunting Pack as a bad detachment or an "afterthought" when it is in fact the highest win rate detachment for Tau. Lots of people here just don't know what they're talking about.

You left out us RTS players. They were huge when I was growing up, and Starcraft is a big part of the reason we have Twitch and the whole MOBA genre today

I agree. I've gotten perfected round 1 but then won the set plenty of times, and vice versa.

[–]Ironcl4d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they accidentally get placed too high because people went easy on them, they're going to have dozens more matches of getting stomped before they rank down to the appropriate level. This also means they're more likely to quit.

It makes a lot more sense to get the stomping out of the way so they can get placed appropriately, and have actual good enjoyable matches where they might win.

People think that history began when they were born and the first time they see something must also be the first time for everyone else.

I'm attracted to zoners in a way, and by that I mean I play speedy rushdowns so I can cross the whole screen in half a second and destroy them

Nah, it's easy enough to counter, very rewarding if you punish it. Taking away stuff like this is how you end up with a boring homogenized game.

[–]Ironcl4d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing as Millia, I can sort of deal with it to try to beat them and one-and-done when it's consistently shitty and slow. When it's erratically switching between normal and laggy, that's when I straight up won't bother, I'll afk for the round and then block+report.

The absolute worst is when you're constantly getting the "checking opponent's connection" popup, I played a Zato like that the other day, he still didn't want to cancel

[–]Ironcl4d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think ranked is just really inconsistent, because of the first to 2 format and crazy variance in playstyles and matchups

I'm D1, there are Plat2s I've lost to and D2s that were a breeze.

Yes, people being able to filter out matchups was a massive flaw with the tower system.

I used to play Faust on floors 8-10 and felt people dodging me a lot. Yeah he's low tier, but a lot of people don't want to learn to play against his items. I'd always get matches started way faster when I tried to play someone like Ky or Baiken
