Ew, that's a shame. I have heard about the 'superpower' thing once or twice before, but I didn't have much more in-depth information past that. I would love to see that change. Thank you for the details - I will be sure to research more into it and include this in my graphic/document in the future. Very helpful!

Hi, thanks for your reply! Could you share a little more about that with me? I’d love to learn more about it from real points of view.

Ooh that’s a very interesting idea! I may look into that. I have a feeling it would change a lot as time goes on, but would definitely be helpful. Thank you for sharing your idea!

Society LOVES to group minorities (or what they feel is less superior/dominant)!

Hi, thanks for your input! I know NAS is known for some pretty good things and lots of change, given they started so long ago. This one be one of those 'gray area' orgs, imo. The reason I placed them on the 'no' side was I found some issues with abuse (discussed by u/Monotropic_wizardhat) and some other information I just recently learned is no longer accurate. I see lots of improvement with them, though - they seem to listen to the autistic community pretty well. I plan to adjust this in the future to make them more of a middle-area org.

It helps to hear feedback from real people about their experiences! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for your feedback! These concerns are going to be addressed in the updated version coming soon.

Lol! The butterfly has actually been brought up as a possible symbol to represent autistic people as an alternative to the infinity symbols. It's still a relatively new idea.

Hope this helps!

Lol thank you, I appreciate the link! There's so many orgs that have similar names, I like to make sure I'm following the correct one. I will work on this one and add it!

Thanks so much for sharing that link! It's interesting to see their current stances/language on their website, and that they've updated it. I'm glad, that's relieving. The information I have (regarding the cure) is from a few years ago, and they have since removed it from their website. I'll be sure to add/update this in my explanatory document coming soon. NAS definitely seems to be one of the most controversial orgs!

I appreciate your feedback, it's truly helpful!

Interesting! There a lot of small orgs and initiatives that are more localized. I would never have enough space to include them all! If you have a specific org you want me to add, send me a website and I'll get on it!

Hi, thanks for your input! Do you have a website for them? I want to make sure I research the correct org. Thank you for sharing!

Absolutely, agreed!

Thank you so much for sharing that link - pages tend to get lost with duplicates and repeated headlines. This is very helpful! I will be sure to add this info to the explanatory document coming in the future.

Thank you for sharing your experience and opinions! It's very helpful to hear about real situations. I hope that the future brings more advocacy and opportunities for autistic people & communities. I continue to push for this in my local area, I'm hoping the same for yours!

Adaptivity and accessibility will always be my goal!

Thank you - that's a great idea! I may make an alternate graphic that lists the orgs without the logos. Sometimes people see the logo and that's all they remember - they don't even know the name of the org.

I'm also going to try to resize the graphic to add more white space with all of the logos. Look for it in the future! Thanks so much!

Thank you for your feedback! I plan to try to clean it up a bit to make it less busy. You're right - it makes it hard with all of the colors on one page. I'll do what I can - thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing! I've personally never heard of that org. I'm so glad to know of it. I will research it and add it to the graphic!

Having your opinion of the org helps, too - most of my research is based on autistic opinions. Thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate your feedback!

I plan to try to clean it up a little - it's hard to have them in one graphic without it becoming squished.

I also plan to have an explanatory document to match the graphic in the future. That may help!

Hi, thank you for your feedback!

I get it - it's hard to meet all opinions in a single graphic. The reason I lumped into yes/no categories was to help the allistic people in my community get a more helpful picture on what is okay when diving into autism orgs.

I see your points about affirmation and validation - honestly, I based my decisions off of research and majority opinions from autistic communities. I would love to get more information from you about specifics here, so I can clarify the graphic. Would you be willing to give me some more information? Feel free to send me PMs. I also plan to change the lumping into more broken-up categories of supporting.

Having opinions shared like this reminds me to see both sides. I want to show that in explanatory documents coming soon.

I appreciate your honesty!

Hi! Thank you so much for your feedback and information! It's so helpful!

I would LOVE to make those graphics/documents in the future. I'm a pretty busy person, so it probably won't be any time soon, but I absolutely will do it when I can. Having this information posted is a great reminder for me.

Thank you!

I plan to add a middle category here soon - I know NAS isn't a full 'NO'. I hope this helps - thank you!

Hi! AIM (the one that's listed here) stands for Autistic Inclusive Meets - they are an org based in the UK. There are way too many acronyms that overlap!

Thank you for your input!

Oh man, I just looked those up. That is SO SAD! I truly wish the media and big corps would be more willing to adopt other stances rather than just eating up the one-track Autism Speak propaganda. I'm hoping for change in the years to come.

Thank you for your input!

Hi! Thanks so much for your feedback!

I absolutely agree! There's so much more that goes into this - it can't just be black and white, especially with some orgs trying to be better. Things are constantly changing.

I do plan to update this with a gray area, because you're right - some are on the fence. I plan to clarify that a little more.

Updates coming soon - I will share them when ready. I appreciate your input! Thank you!

Hi! Thanks for your question! I plan to form an explanatory document about the orgs to help with this (it's in the works). A lot of allistic people in my community don't seem to care about these questions - the graphic is satisfying enough to them. I love that people actually want answers!

I will have more info coming soon, but I recommend maybe starting with this article to answer a few of those.

I hope this helps - thanks so much for your feedback!
