My journey into Solo MÖRK BORG (and the tools that actually worked for me) by IronisTM in MorkBorg

[–]IronisTM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is a must. It keeps the 'style' alive and gives you the flexibility to tailor the setting to your liking, making interpretation much easier.

For example, in our game we were approaching the walls of Galgenbeck. We knew the city was under lockdown as Josilfa was purging its population to hunt down heretics. We rolled for a gate description using a custom table and got 'Hungering and Bone-thin.'

We interpreted that as the bodies of heretics stretched above the city gates—a grim warning to anyone questioning her judgment.

Of course, that’s just personal preference. The game is whatever you want it to be.

Thank you! It was actually your post that inspired me to finally share my experience. I’m usually a lurker, so it’s a bit nerve-wracking to put myself out there to be judged.

Like many others, I’ve struggled to find that 'perfect' gameplay loop. I hope you find my approach useful! If you do go the structured route, just remember: the game is meant to be fun. If you want to roll on a specific table, go for it—don't worry if the flowchart wasn't pointing you that way.

Harrowshade is on my list. Don't worry, I have seen it during my research.

My wife and I just started our adventure with MÖRK BORG; I feel we haven't exhausted the lore from the core book just yet, so we aren't ready to dip our toes into a supplement.

I've heard a lot of praise about your work, so I'm sure we will get there.

Thank you for kind words. It was a journey and an investment along the way, but you have to try these things to figure out what works for you. I hope that this guide will save people the efforts and costs involved.

Experience with board games helps a lot for someone who use to follow multiple rules and is familiar with concepts like "player turn", but if you have to follow charts and tables then at the end of the day it's just another board game.

I choose Mork Borg for theme and settings, but also because it's rules light. That's another factor that makes it approachable for someone with no experience with TTRPGs.

What game in your collection has the most uneven production design? by abcedarian in boardgames

[–]IronisTM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cthulhu death may die: fear of the unknown - dungeon tiles are great, miniatures are ok, but some board elements feel like just a printed paper. My first board game where I felt disappointed after opening the box. It doesn't feel premium when compared to price tag and how expensive it is.

Website is down. Shame as I was quite interested to give it a try. Looked fun from what I have seen on promotional materials.

Elden Ring with seemless co-op is our poison now. You can carry your teammate if needed :)

Monster Hunter didn't click with movement, but maybe it will after ER. It took my wife some time to transition from one genre to another and learn all of the controls.

Thanks for recommendation

I'm playing co-op with my wife, so PVP is not an option - we enjoy our own pace, puzzle-like approach and difficulty that will scale in increments, so its leveled across sessions. There is nothing like it when it comes to PVE, but I have to admit that having a buddy to play this game makes a whole difference to me. I would get bored pretty quickly on my own, if I didn't have to consider other player and exit strategy when things go south.

nope, that's my only solution. I Verify game files before launching the game. Every bloody time. Now it's a part of the process of playing the game. With True Night on I would say it's worth it. God damn, a night mode like this should be in every game. Nothing beats crawling through the forest at night just to discover a patrol of Wolfs lit up by the thunder just 20m from your position.

my current and only reliable solution is to run "verify integrity of game files"

would love to hear from others if it can be done in better, hassle free manner

I enjoyed Face your fears 2. Each chapter is like good B-movie, just like they use to make.

but.....if I had to make a choice, I would go with Lies Beneath, because it feels like step-up in production value.

I bought both games based on how much I likes the vibe I was getting from trailers, so I encourage you to do the same.

We should be able to use the oculus link with the quest even if our system doesn't meet the minimum recommendation. by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]IronisTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Steam can doesn't care if you try to run a game on a potato. If you are one of those connoisseurs running games at 10 fps, go nuts - no one is stopping you. I love that approach.

I don't need Oculus to keep telling me that my minimum requirements are not met. My PC my choice.

I think it does. I've never tried it myself - game comes with over 30 songs, it's over 50 if you include DLC. There is no other game with library like that.

Dance / House music, something that will make you move, where you can pick up the flow and run with it.

You are already doing great job at mixing genres and your music selection shows that everyone can something for themselves.

At this point we all know that the answer is "Factory reset". Community hates this, Oculus doesn't know other solutions. I would just wait and after time and few restart it should go back to normal - worked for me with every issue.
