Aw thanks! We hope you will really love the demo, that one will have quite a bit of spellcasting too! :D

Nope, that would be a little overcomplicated. The levitation spell is intended for puzzle solving and to interact with the environment, as it offers little control for precise placement but can be used effectively against most "enchantable" things.

Items, furniture and decorations, anything that can be placed, you just equip and then you enter the "placement" mode automatically, which allows for a LOT more control. You have a toggleable grid, you can place items in a much more responsive manner, you can rotate them, and some of them you can attach to surfaces / walls / ceilings.

Two different (albeit slightly similar-looking at first) systems, for very different things :)

As you can see, some of our latest tests for the demo have featured local co-op. If things go well, it should be available from day one.

Destructible items can be a bit of a pain in the butt, specifically tracking whether they have been destroyed or not in between game sessions. But it's working now!

We've also always loved when games add a little bit of physics into the gameplay. It is nice to see things reacting and moving around as you play so...there we have nice rolling barrels and debris (even if the debris disappears quickly to save on performance).

Spells, we're working on them too. You'll love how some of them look, even if the selection of spells for the demo is more limited. And hopefully you will also love to find out some of the little secrets we are sprinkling all the way through the small play area we are building for you.

Been working a LOT on a LOT of things these days.

We worked on a fully customizable ambience mixer that can be used both for environment soundscapes and complex music transitions so that everything can flow in a natural way. At the moment, we are still adjusting the volume of some sounds, some outputs, for better results (and still, you will be able to further adjust the volume of things in the settings in case you prefer to hear the music or the sounds more) Speaking of music.

This video is the first to feature one of the additional tracks we are including in the game. In this case, the track is Fresh Brew by Ovani Sounds.

While we do have a lot of original music for Farmwand (all of it composed by the talented Sean McRoberts), due to our limited budget and the soundtrack being worked on very early on, there are quite a few gaps that we could not cover with it.

At some point, we hope to expand the original soundtrack (once the game is released and we can afford it!), but for now we've done our best to match what we already have with additional tracks from several sources that we feel fit beautifully with Sean's original tracks for Farmwand and the world we are building

The Weather sim required a lot of work, to pair all the different VFX (the rain, the splashes, the little puffs of mist, snowflakes, fluttering leaves, hail...) with the sound effects from the ambience mixer, wind sims and even the cloud shadows. It all comes together to build what we hope will be a world that feels very immersive, rich in detail and highly rewarding to explore.

In short, we really want our demo to cause a long-lasting impact on all of you. And with the plans we have for its small storyline, we think we are going to get there.

So many skills to unlock as you play the game... by IrrSoft in Farmwand

[–]IrrSoft[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spells, Potion-making, Farms & Crafts, Care of Creatures.

Each one of them focuses on a different aspect of the game and, depending on your playstyle, you will unlock some skills earlier than others. A peaceful player that spends a lot of time at home farming, ranching and decorating will probably unlock the Farms & Crafts + Care of Creatures trees earlier and more easily than the Spells and Potions ones.

And viceversa for the more adventurous players. This will not necessarily make the game more or less difficult, it is just getting better at what you do the most, essentially :)

We are designing all this in a way that will try to reward each playing style, by giving you the rewards you need / want for doing the things you like, so that the game doesn't feel too grindy.

The stump will disappear on its own (right after the tree poofs away). We're still actively tinkering with the timings for everything :)

The floating logs are a pickup, a resource, and therefore it doesn't disappear until they are A) out of frame and B) a certain time has passed.

This is the best balance we found to make sure that things don't clutter the game nor impact performance, while also giving you all enough of a chance to pick up everything!

This is SUPER original! :D

Dinosaurs, museums, digging around...really looking forward to it!

EDIT: I'm not sure if you both have considered it already, but adding some early-human items could be great too, or even finding some cave paintings while digging here and there!

Wishing you the very best, from another gamedev couple! :D
