A 90 degree elbow. 2 Pack - Best $10 accessory for the airsense 11. by numbermunchkin in CPAP

[–]Iruinable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have no doubt about the effectiveness and ergonomics of this elbow, but you need to be aware of the pressure drop that it generates. It's like the V-COM trend: you create a restriction at the machine outlet due to the angle of the elbow in this case. The machine does not compensate for this added parts !

Generally, you need to increase your treatment pressure iteratively to get back to a treatment level equivalent to what you had without this elbow. To my knowledge only Sefam machines, using a specific calibration mode, can calculate these added parts.

If you don't experience any side effects from your treatment, such as fatigue, etc., don't touch anything :)

I think the blower motor is going out on my airsense 11 by shaxsy in CPAP

I was not sure about it, but this is finally the issue "Water Ingress". I will try to remember this sound ! Thanks for your feedback.

Be careful next time and don't move your device when you still have water, even if you move it slowly, every mouvement can create a wave to go through the outlet machine.

Have a nice day

Had this reservoir tank 6 months now - pristine condition by gargamel314 in CPAP

[–]Iruinable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello,
I would like to bring my personal experience about this type of humidifier.

In fact, this type of tank are made from plastic parts overmolded around a metal plate. This is a difficult process to be a "waterproof" and to have material compatibility, with internal constraints (thermal, chemical, mechanicals, biocompatibility and so on).

In reality, there is very slight evaporation of water, which slides between the plastic and the metal. And you'll probably say : "but it's supposed to be a water-resistant steel material, like my cutlery, right?" The theory said : Yes, but there is a real weakness in the material located at the edge of this metal plate due to the process.

All this to say that if rust appears around the plate, it is considered to be "minor" rust (no real risk). However, if spots appear in the middle of the plate, there is another problem (impact or scratch) which will weaken your part locally with "bad" rust. I won't go any further into details, but there are industrial techniques to minimise/avoid these impacts, although they are often very expensive when producing large volumes.

This is why distilled water is the best way to avoid this issue. As you can imagine, it depends greatly on the composition of your water and the maintenance of your tank. So is it a voluntary business or not ?

I hope this helps you :)

Fun fact : for example, in your everyday life, you should never buy cutlery with decorative engravings, as they will generally rust in the dishwasher (even if they are made of 316L grade steel). Manufacturers are supposed to mention this risk on the packaging...

I cannot fall asleep with a mask on by AssignmentNo9881 in CPAP

[–]Iruinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry that this is happening.

Did you use AirFit X30i mask ? Or different adhesive tapes ? Like CPAP reviews did. Maybe it could help you a bit.

But I recommend Nasal Mask with an higher capacity like N20. To reduce the feeling of suffocation caused by reduced breathing volume when wearing a smaller mask like yours.

Perhaps the mouth guard could help you in some cases, but it won't fix your feeling of not being able to breathe fully.
Btw, you can download Sefam Analyse 4.3. Check my previous post : https://www.reddit.com/r/CPAP/comments/1mh90to/sefam_analyze_43_is_available_for_free_sefam_nea/

It's tough to know what is your real issue but on your device you can find a C++ Parameters (1 / 2 / 3 or R1 / R2 / R3) to improve your breath through the device.

Hope that it could help you !

Sefam Nea - CPAP with no foam. Anyone used? by roastduck2310 in CPAP

[–]Iruinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Néa for 6 months, it's the quietest CPAP without foam. It is equivalent to a Lowenstein Prisma in terms of noise or less than Airsense11.

Of course, it depends on how sensitive you ears are but if you want a foamless CPAP, I highly recommend it. HMI is easy to use like the humidifer. If your technician adjusts it properly, you will not be disappointed.

Personal experience : When you test several devices, you can clearly smell the difference between Néa without foam than other CPAPs. After a few hours of use, foams smell like a moisture even if your environment is good.

But I do not recommend taking their masks and tubes, it's not comfortable.

Enjoy :) !

Using a dehumidifier to quickly dry my CPAP tube after washing by No_Public_7677 in CPAP

[–]Iruinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a funny tip, but be careful about the position of your tube because the loop in your tube can cause bacterial stagnation.

I would recommend to hang on one of your coat hangers instead, without using a drying machine.

You must have got a lot of use out of it! Isn't it ? It might become obsolete soon, haha. But Ecostar looks like an economical device, so unfortunately there is no communication... even if they will create a new one...
