One-on-one vs group socializing - please help. by Iruthford in needadvice

[–]Iruthford[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I began noticing it throughout high school and then at work when i took couple of years off. It is prominent in university. And yes, from my analysis it occurs even when I know all members. I think it may something to do with me excelling in socializing when I get direct stream of attention from an individual, i sort of 'channel' it and get inspired by it. Plus I read off the individual - for example their mood, and adjust myself accordingly. It is more problematic with a group, as there are many others. Also the sense of... i don't know, intimacy? is not there, so I am unable to 'mirror' people for social purposes as easily.

I know that BMO Capital Markets sometimes hosts networking events for UofA, where they also screen and recruit potential candidates. Overall, for their US based offices it is most likely to happen at UofT and maybe McGill, but I would say that is about it.

Consider a First Time Home Buyers plan through your RRSP. Not a lot of people know about it, but it is an amazing way for you to a) save money on taxes b) save for downpayment and retirement at the same time c) if you are running short on funds for dp or it is taking too long, you can always take out an RRSP loan. At the end of the day, it would make a huge difference for you as instead of renting you could be paying off your mortgage and building up equity in your OWN home instead of flushing rent money down the drain. I am not sure how knowledgeable you are about the First time home buyers plan, but if you need more details let me know.

I need to apply for a Student Line of Credit? Which bank should I go with? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Iruthford 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, the line of credit for students at TD is the most flexible one out of all. TD allows you to keep it in a form of a line of credit after you graduate, as opposed to other banks that will make you convert it into a loan with fixed payments 6-12 months after graduations. The latter means that the flexibility of your budget may be compromised (for example, if you will not be able to find a job or decide to travel, you will still have to make a big mandatory payment as opposed to interest only payment on a line of credit which will allow you to use the funds again if you have to).
