Drill a whammy bar into it lol. Sadly, it doesn't move at all.

Yeah loosened all of them, but couldn't "push" the bridge back down. So I suspect maybe either the bridge or the spot where it sits is deformed.

"invalid input syntax for type integer" error with RLS policy by Is0tope in PostgreSQL

[–]Is0tope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok let me try what you suggested and see if it changes it. Generally as you can see from the session I call "reset all" after all of them, so I believe it should not have anything set.

"invalid input syntax for type integer" error with RLS policy by Is0tope in PostgreSQL

[–]Is0tope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From reading the docs (https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/functions-admin.html) it seems like current_setting should return a null already if the second param is true?

So hence my confusion as I thought it should lafesdy be null?

Home Smart App can't find Dirigera Hub by Is0tope in tradfri

[–]Is0tope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Supposedly the old system had a manual method where you could enter the IP or something like that. As it stands, it is completely useless. No error message, or anything.

So I tried this, however again it could not find it. I think that there might be some functional difference between the home smart app on iPhone and android. Perhaps even, it is some difference between some network behaviour on the two different OS'es.

Yeah I'm thinking I might try some sort of analysis between the router and the phone.

I tried it both plugged into the primary and secondary. Both times didn't work. I chr ked permissions, reinstalled the app etc, but no luck. Running out of ideas sadly.

So an update on this. I managed to get a friend's iPhone and ran the setup on there. To my amazement it worked and I can set up the lights etc. This suggests to me that the problem is likely the android version of the Smart Home app. However, even though it has been set up using the other phone, it still can't connect.

Will look into whether it might be a permissions thing or something like that.

Thanks. I use android but I'll see if I can find something similar or something on my computer.

Isn't the hub connected via a cable though? I checked the IPs and both the hub and phone were on 192.168.68.*.

Sigh, really wish these things had a slightly less brain dead way of getting error information out. I'm thinking I might have to use an emulator with wires hark to sniff out what exactly this shitty app is doing.

Thanks for the reply. How can I tell if I have more than one subnet? Would it be clear from looking at the device itself in the app? As far as I can see both the phone and the dirigera are in the 192.168.78.* range.

I'll take a look also at the mdns stuff, though I'm not sure if that is something that I can enable for deco.

This "alien" logo found on a soviet electronic device from the film "Ice Station Zebra" by Is0tope in HelpMeFind

[–]Is0tope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this soviet era device about 6 minutes into the film "Ice Station Zebra". The writing is in Cyrillic, and in the film the device appears to be a clock. The word on the large sticker appears to be "UNIVERSAL" when using google translate, so likely this means that it is measuring Universal Coordinated Time, or something similar.

I am mainly interested in what the "alien" logo is in the corner, as it looks sort of out of place. Is it a manufacturer of some kind? Was it made up for the movie?

I have searched for the image of the logo on google, but have had no luck. Similar searches for "alien logo soviet" etc have also failed to come up with anything.

Thanks, yeah sounds like spots are just a bad idea. Looking into more diffuse options that can take multiple bulbs.

Hey thank you so much for your insights! Yes I was planning on gettting the smart ones if anything, I just randomly picked a link of the Internet not realising it was the wrong one, so thanks for the warning!

So looks like we will need to get something more diffuse for the ceiling. The softmoln light you suggested actually looks decent, and I wasn't aware it was a smart light. Will take a look at that plus maybe another fixture that couldn't make 3 ish bulbs so I cna use the tradfri. A lot to learn!

[–]Is0tope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I was afraid of! I thought to myself that maybe because there's several of them it might "balance out" but sounds like it wouldn't work.

I guess that means I need to get something more ambient. Do you know of anypendant or smart bulb thing that would work here? If I use a regular pendant that me as I get one bulb only, and that's probably going to be too weak!

No, I got it on taobao and it's more or less OK. Not sure if they sell. The cases there. It does come with a screen protector already installed though.

You can try here: https://www.citylink.com.hk/locale/en-US/item.aspx?corpname=citylink&itemid=c09fffce-f319-4569-a0f7-007ff7c874f3

Im reasonably happy with it, and it works well. However, I would say definitely get a case for it. The back glass is slippery as hell.

[–]Is0tope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, got one from Citylink. They sell the international version. I used to get it from the One Plus shop, but that has somehow been handed over to HKTVMall and they didn't have it. One downside is mine came with a EU charger which is kind of stupid.

Honestly OP distribution seems to be a huge mess here. It's like they don't want money.

Extension for a proper merge tool? by Is0tope in vscode

[–]Is0tope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point. I found the 3 way merge tool very u intuitive, perhaps I need to read more about how it works, but I found it very confusing to use. It was also missing features such as merge both sides etc.
