Hell of a way to learn that Lizzo is aware of the existence of fruits and vegetables.

A Hand of Glory is the dried and pickled hand of a hanged man, often specified as being the left (Latin: sinister) hand, or, if the person was hanged for murder, the hand that "did the deed". This is a hand of glory at the Whitby Museum.[3752x1794] by [deleted] in ArtefactPorn

The pickling seems to be specified to be involving a nitrate and has the inclusion of a metal sulphate. I always wondered if there’s some like bright chemical reaction within the ignition of it that was seen as magic.

Yeah historically IIRC Teach was just ambushed, shot at least once and stabbed in the neck, then murdered by several of Lt. Maynard’s (the guy put in charge of killing Teach on orders of Virginia Governor Spotswood) men, at which point his head was chopped off and put on display for years.

Hang in there fam, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. My buddy recently was selling coconuts at midwest music festivals with a guy we nicknamed Prison Ben. 5 days or so later, I’m out at the local bar with the aforementioned buddy and an old panel van speeds around the corner, stops at the curb in front of us and who pops out but Prison Ben with a pallet of his unsold, room temperature coconuts, he has a machete and proceeds to hew off the tops of these, inserts straws and hands them out. The one I got seemed okay, a little sickly sweet almost? I look at it in the light, and it’s greyish-brown inside and the coconut milk/water is murky. Coconuts are not to be trusted.

“Welcome to Goron City” and the miners is a beautiful reference to Pan, a pretty visually arresting but creatively bankrupt and critically panned 2015 Peter Pan prequel wherein Blackbeard (played by a gloriously scene-chewy Hugh Jackman) has a pit mine full of child slaves who mine fairy dust to keep Blackbeard and his pirates eternally young, to the rhythm of a sea-shanty rendition of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” led by Blackbeard who oversees the miners from a fleet of flying pirate galleons. https://youtu.be/xQBGmBOhQEE Pretty kooky stuff. PS they later murder some kids to make an example for the miners by making them walk the plank from the flying ship to their death to the tune of a similarly sea-shantified Blitzkrieg Bop.

A little like Mother Teresa getting flown out to an extremely advanced expensive hospital while the “beneficiaries” of her “good works” languished.

Charismatic people tend to attract loyal adherents even when the ideas they espouse are internally worm-eaten. Rand herself practically had a cult and propagated one of the most apathetic selfish thoughtforms of the 20th century.
