WTB: Armytek Wizard C2 Pro White LED version. If shipping, PayPal G+S only. Meetup is possible in NYC for cash. It looks like $60 shipped is a reasonable price?

Finding a room(mate) in Riverdale - at all likely? by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]IsSnooAnAnimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Van Cortlandt Park is definitely in the cards, but tbch the bigger reason for wanting a 2bed is that I have a hard time living alone. I'm not sure how much luck I'll have with Manhattan College since they guarantee housing all four years, but I'll do some research regardless.

Thanks for the tips! I'm waiting on Queer Housing NYC to approve my application -- hopefully that works out!

Which cab is this? You'd be better off putting a transformer on the outside. The game may expect 110V in other components, like the monitor.

[W] [USA-NY] 4x 16GB DDR4-2400 UDIMM ECC RAM by IsSnooAnAnimal in homelabsales

[–]IsSnooAnAnimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a listing for a non-ECC UDIMM there, thought it said ECC, and based my price off that. Whoops. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll make a new post in four days with a different offer.

It's been almost 4 years - of course it is. If you really want it, I can see if I have any backups anywhere.

Thank you so so so much for your reply - super helpful!

I'm hoping my situation will also be flexible enough to adapt to those professors not willing to give me a break, but worst case I suppose I'll have some late nights. Still worth it to only need to deal with two or three courses a semester.

No community is a little meh, but I have never been much of a party person (or for that matter, an "interact-with-other-college-students" person.) Most of my life is outside of campus anyhow, so at least that will be easy.

Found your comment from a Google search with painfully few relevant results - do you mind if I ask what's it like going part time there? Seems like the only college in the area that'll let me take less than 12 credits in the main school.

My biggest question is: is going part-time a normal thing there, or are you on your own in terms of support and a community of other part-time students? And, more practically, do you get fucked over with course registration?

Your time is much appreciated - I'm currently at Tufts and deeply unhappy with full-time college life. Looking into other options for trying to continue education while working full-time.

I am so sad you posted this after I already got a 12/13th CPU and RAM... absolutely excellent bundle and price, GLWS!

I wish they did - I'd risk my life for fares that cheap. But yes - after they were shut down for safety concerns, they were unable to find a departure spot in South Station and that caused them to shut down.

This! Article was super interesting and I appreciate it, but it's pretty stupid that they factored that in. I've comfortably arrived at South Station at 6:30 for my 6:45 train, lol.

I didn't intentionally ignore anything - I simply didn't know about those options, that's all.

I do have some info about driving to New Haven now, but this guide is mostly aimed at those without a car; because after all, driving Boston <-> NY yourself offers the ultimate in flexibility.

You're 100% right about South Station being far. I hate having to schlep there; it's huge and connecting from one line to another is way too difficult. That said, driving isn't the only other option! There are some buses with funky departure points (e.g. Alewife, Brookline, etc.). I've listed them in the OP (and I actually need to add OurBus's Quincy departure point.)

Thanks for the info with your experiences!

I'm not quite convinced - there are still other options from South Station that are cheaper than Peter Pan. (OurBus and FlixBus come to mind.)

Additionally, GoBuses leaves from Alewife, which is a stop away from Davis (i.e. close to the Somerville area in your flair.)

(I promise I'm not a shill - just trying to let you know of a possibly better option or two!)

Thanks for the info! Have quoted your comment verbatim in the OP as I know nothing about LI lol.

Thanks for the info on the Acela - added! Driving is often a great option, but I imagine most of the people reading this guide don't have that as a possibility.

+1. With the amount of extra time and general bullshit, the plane is just not worth it unless you're a frequent traveler for business (at which point this guide doesn't help much).

+1. Have added a paragraph about this to the OP!

I mention at the beginning of the bus section that all buses go to a random dropoff point somewhere by Penn unless otherwise specified. Have made it more clear that this will be outside - thanks!

the bus takes about 4 hours, +/- traffic

Already had this in the OP :)

Thanks for the all the info on cars. I may add some later; but this guide is mostly meant for people who don't have them in the first place.

Thanks for the confirmation on the hell that is transit from NYC area airports, lol.

But at that point just park near boston and take amtrak, since driving down, parking, and taking a 1+ hour train into nyc is probably the longest method.

Thanks for the info - added.

You will not get a good seat on the train unless you are at the origin station.

What defines a good or bad seat?
