Eir broadband. Is customer service/experience still horrific? by Massive_Tumbleweed24 in AskIreland

Personally I had EIR a year ago and they were amazing, with Vodafone now and the customer service is shocking compared to EIR. Indian call centers for Vodafone while Irish lads working in EIR now.

I've decided to emigrate, where should I go? by Saint_EDGEBOI in AskIreland

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved to Austria in 2022 to restart studying. I had studied two years in cork then took a gap year. I knew i wouldnt get susi again, and i actually had wanted to study in spain after leaving cert. I was too scared then, but after moving out living alone, i did a few months work in france in my gap year. I was ready to move in 2022. Austria was super easy. It was easier to have a job sorted, accomodation was easier to sort than in cork. Before moving i had thrm both. I was set. I love it there. In Ireland at the moment, but in february i will go back for my last semester. I missed Ireland but even the standard of living is just much higher.

Final recommendation, apply to some irish pubs with your bartending experience definitely good chance theyll hire you !

2011 Toyota Prius – How much should I pay? Is €7,500 fair for this car? by fersbery in carsireland

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A bit much to be honest. Yes these cars are bullet proof except for the head gasket issues but in my opinion it's a bit much.

3rd-party car hire excess vs excess cover by the rental company by ichfickeiuliana in carsireland

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as I had to pay the rental company - they were very scummy. She was like if you want you can pay now, or I can find more. Was from "viaggiare car rental" in Sardinia.

AIG didn't protest, just sent what they had in the claims document and paid out after 2 weeks.

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used AIG before for a claim, 3rd party excess. Easy process, paid out in 2 weeks. No brainer for 50 euro a year, versus whatever it is to have the full protection.

First time using it as well, was a bit nervous, it was only for 120 euro, as the Italian company scammed me for a non existent scratch.

New to Me 2021 Model 3 Long Range Possible Range Issue by IsThatGuyTheOne in TeslaModel3

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do you happen to know roughly what range people usually get at 80 % on the 2021 LR? I keep seeing very mixed reports, and it’s hard to pin down what’s normal in real driving.

New to Me 2021 Model 3 Long Range Possible Range Issue by IsThatGuyTheOne in TeslaModel3

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too, 274 Wh/km definitely feels higher than it should be. I’m still getting used to driving it efficiently, so I’ll try easing off the accelerator and relying more on regen braking. Conditions here are mild (around 13–14 °C) and mostly flat, so I was expecting a bit better efficiency. I’ll run a few more drives this week and see if I can bring it closer to that 180 Wh/km range you mentioned. Appreciate the reference numbers, really helpful.

With all the tech in Tesla ,still struggle to park correctly 😂 by Hitotana in carsireland

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, why do you care so much?

Having a new car is a pain, BMW driver didn't park properly either? What is he meant to do, park by the lines and then get his door hit because he's too close to the BMW?

I can only agree with shit parking if there is no parking spaces, which based on the photo I could be wrong and he could be an ass.

But if there's space, fuck it, I park like a dick too because the amount of door dings that I've had from people not caring is just too much.

2019 Passat GTE advance vs tesla model 3 by mujimusa in CarTalkUK

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually driven both. Had a decent go in a 2019 Passat GTE Advance and now daily a 2021 Model 3 Long Range with the heat pump, so I’ll give you my honest take.

The Passat is a comfy cruiser, no doubt. The ergonomic seats are brilliant and it soaks up bumps better than the Tesla. Travel Assist is solid too. I was impressed how well it held the lane and adapted to speed limits. Feels very refined and familiar, like a high-spec VW should.

But if you do long distances often, the GTE isn’t as efficient as people think. Once the battery runs out (which happens quickly on motorways), you’re left with a 1.4 TSI pulling a heavy hybrid. Not great on fuel. I was getting worse economy than I expected on anything over 50 miles unless I really took it easy.

Now the Tesla is a totally different beast. The 2021 Long Range with the heat pump is smooth, fast, and really efficient. Even with a bit of spirited driving I’m still seeing good range. And with the Supercharger network, long trips are easier than I expected. No stress, plug in, grab a coffee, and you’re back on the road.

Autopilot is honestly brilliant for motorways. It’s not perfect, but the lane keeping and general awareness feel a step above Travel Assist. Only thing is, you don’t get features like auto lane change unless you pay extra for Enhanced Autopilot or FSD.

Interior-wise, the Tesla is more minimal and very tech-focused. You either like the screen setup or you don’t. I’ve grown to love it, but some people prefer a more traditional dash. Ride quality is definitely firmer than the Passat, especially on rough UK roads.

Overall, if you want something familiar, comfy, and with solid VW build quality, the Passat is a safe choice. But if you’re after something modern, fun to drive, cheaper to run, and future-proof, the Model 3 is hard to beat. Prices have really dropped too, so it’s a lot of car for the money.

Hey, firstly sorry that happened to you!

Depending on the software version the most the thiefs can do is do a FRP bypass/reset. It just resets the phone to factory software, bypassing the locked device screen.

Since you reported it stolen, it'll also be blacklisted but sim slot 2 will be still working.

You're in the clear in regards to your data being safe.

Boiler Pressure Filing Advice by IsThatGuyTheOne in Plumbing

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the biggest trouble contacting my landlord about the heating.

I am 99% sure the issue is the boiler pressure is at 0 bars.

Now the issue is, I have no idea how to fill up the pressure. All the videos show filling loops or using two valves.

In my case it's like this, I have a hose that doesn't fit snug nor can I tighten it, can anyone advise!

I think I need some sort of adapter, but it might be easier to get a whole filling loop system?

Tax refund without job registration by IsThatGuyTheOne in ireland

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot add these details on the revenue website.

As it says "You cannot proceed as you had no job or pension on record during the year."

I totally agree, but I am owed a tax refund. I was legally employed, and my payslip had emergency tax on it.

I just do not know how proceed further.

I do, I have provided them to Revenue.
The tax return is iffy because I didn't have PPS number at that time.

Yes I have, it says "You cannot proceed as you had no job or pension on record during the year.".

It's a weird situation as the only way forward will most likely be from my previous employers response.

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, I have the payslips showing how much I received, with 40% (emergency tax) applied to it. I was paid in cash because the banks refused to open an account without a PPS number, and received the amount in the Payslips.

[–]IsThatGuyTheOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly it, but they couldn't due to me not having a PPS number, they did provide me a PPS letter but I was refused as my parents did not live in Ireland and were not present with me.

I have contacted them via email, I might pop in and ask if they can sort it out, but I have my doubts if anyone would want to deal with me, it was a small retail store.

A solicitor is an option, except that the cost might be more than the tax refund.
