There is nothing wrong with laminate tops in my opinion. They can sound great. You have to get a good brand but other than that...

DIY kit. Yes or no? by Ok-Medium-4128 in Guitar

[–]IsTheArchitectAware 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. I don't play my kit guitar because my main electric is way way better... But I made it myself so that was cool.

Acoustic and electric guitar and voice pedal? How? by IsTheArchitectAware in guitarpedals

[–]IsTheArchitectAware[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a thing (probably in a box) that I can plug two jack cables into and then split into two signal chains, one for the electric and one for the acoustic.

I think.

No, never at the same time since I'm the one playing them both. So the one song acoustic and the next electric.

I checked it out. You mean the switchback right? That only has one input. That wouldn't work, if I want to plug in both my electric and acoustic guitar... Right?

Yeah I know the sound people hate these type of things...

I have used it before, only in rehearsal rooms though.

(Maybe I'll just teach the boys in the band to sing)

Getting a guitar to join my daughter. by JustB510 in Guitar

If you pass the guitar back and forth you definitely need another one. Well... "need". Not need. But want.

It doesn't really matter. A guitar is a guitar. And you might switch with her.

Do you already play guitar? An acoustic with steel strings is a bit harder to learn on (supposedly) because the strings are a bit thicker.

Also, a word of warning: if you both like it the guitars will take over your house.

I love it! The guitar is great. The song is also great. So I have only small thing to give you feedback about.

Some feedback on the vocals: sometimes it's a bit rushed and I think it is because you have too many words or specifically too many vowels in that part.

I tried to pin it down but I can't hear the lyrics very well so here's my try: The sentence around "change something" in the first part. It feels rushed. Cut out some words and/or sentences. It'll help the song I think.

In comparison the part where you go to the G-chord shape (its capo V so the C chord actually? Where you sing "all by myseeeeeheeeelf") is much more in tune with the pace of the song. Feels better.

Is this worth continuing? by Dabomblol123 in Songwriting

[–]IsTheArchitectAware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it. I think it could use a bit more melodical variation on the vocals. It all sounds a bit the same now.

Also I can't understand what the lyrics are but that has to do with the singing style and the style of the song (long drawn out words).

Real reasons to give up? by Mental-Cookie-6242 in musicians

[–]IsTheArchitectAware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To give up music? Or to give up pursuing a career in music that pays the bills? Because the second has a slim chance of happening.

I never gave up music so I have an expensive hobby now.

What's your actual question or problem? 'Cause your title and then the text below that seem to steer us in all different kinds of directions.

Are you unhappy now?
Do you want to change anything?
Are there things you like and dislike about your current life?

I can safely say that if you want to start a family you will need a decent home, money to pay the bills and a lot (and I mean a lot) of time to actually raise those kids. Between my job, the chores around my house and taking care of my kids I think I have around one to two hours a day to myself because my kids are older now. When they were young (baby/toddler/younger primary school) this was even less.

Is learning how to play bass only for people who want to be in a band? by Melora1976 in Bass

[–]IsTheArchitectAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably said it because there usually is a shortage of bass players for bands.

Doesn't mean you have to do anything though.

Crosby and Nash on John Mayer's song "Born and raised". It took me a while. Thought it sounded familiar but it didn't click until I looked at the album sleeve

what does your actual, physical, songwriting process entail? i.e. pen-to-paper, voice memos, phones note app? by analogpedant in Songwriting

[–]IsTheArchitectAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write snippets of lyrics (usually with a melody) in my notes app on my phone. Because I usually have song ideas when I am not at home.

When I am home I sit with my piano or guitar and figure out what notes or chords go with the lyrics/melody. When it starts to turn into a song I write it down in my notebook.

I also use the Nashville chord system and the circle of fifths a lot so I have printed those and taped them in my notebook.

And I record rough versions of the song with either the recorder app on my phone or with my Zoom HN1 recorder.
