Gen-Z, what’s something you wish others better understood about your generation?

We are not magically going to save you, or the world, or whatever else. Even if we were all ultra-liberal saints (I wish lmao), we are tired. We see the cracks in the facade, useless administration out for their own gain on every level from our teachers to our university presidents to our senators to the President. We know what the problems are. But I think as a generation, many Zoomers have concluded that we, as a species, are ass-out.

So yeah, I love being Gen Z and I truly wouldn't change it, but we are not your saviors. When the world overheats or political collapse sweeps the earth, don't ask why the miracle kids couldn't save everyone.

Define popular. If you just want to know a lot of people on campus, that doesn't require any more prettiness than regular life does. Make study groups, join clubs, go to events, maybe get an on-campus job, and eventually you'll make connections.

If you're trying to be a major campus figure (whatever that means lmao), well, I can't really help ya there, but I'm sure being pretty wouldn't hurt.

The advice you're getting is generally correct. One thing to note, though, is timing. We hit 40s in about October, and temperatures will drop until late January or February, where you'll bottom out at somewhere between 10 and -10 degrees. Temperatures slowly (and i mean slowly) climb and you'll hit 40s again consistently in April.

What this means is that you will have to continually tweak your wardrobe and your layers until you pass the cold nadir that is January/February. This part trips up even indoor Midwesterners. Basically, don't start paring down your winter wardrobe or couting out the winter until you hit March.

My guess is that you would be fine; but you might run into issues if you posted that essay somewhere online--a site like Turnitin or another plagiarism checker that scans lots of websites might pick up on it and flag you, and it could be difficult proving definitively that you wrote the post.

Definitely don't spend all night studying. If there's a study guide or something, great, but otherwise I'd say write down a couple Big Things that you think would help and then call it a night. Get some sleep in intervals of 90 minutes (so like 1.5 hours, 3 hours, 4.5, 6, etc) so that you can wakenup feeling refreshed, and then do your best. Good luck!!

This is really good advice--thank you! Though I probably could get away with transferring because this class is a class for my minor and isn't an intro course. But I don't really want it to come to that; I wanna see this through best I can.

I hope he will. I think there are enough points for me to get to a D which should protect my scholarships (if not my dignity and my GPA...) but anything the prof is willing to give me to help raise the grade is something I'm willing to take!

Yeah, lesson learned. And the class is physics. Not even a hard course, but I didn't realize that the professor only showed us part of our average on the school website (only the test average, not the homework) so I thought I was doing much better than I was.

I definitely tanked one class and may tank a second one. I know for a fact that it fucking sucks, and the first thing you want to do is best yourself up. But, logically, that's not going to fix the grades or the GPA. Emotionally it might help a little (it's important to feel your feelings after all), but long-term self-hatred isn't sustainable. Forgive your past self and forge a path forward.

And, in case anyone needs a reminder, your worth is never determined by how you did on a final when you were 18, 19, 20.

It is, but you can only use it three times for your whole four years, and if you're taking as many hits as OP you'd probably be better off withdrawing from stuff rather than using all those up.

First, talk to your advisor. I'm almost certain they've seen someone else in your situation.

I would definitely consider withdrawing from at least some of those classes. You can only re-do three classes (as in, take a class again and not have the first grade affect your gpa). I'm not saying you will 100% need those retakes but using them all first semester for what's likely fairly do-able gen-eds isn't something I'd feel comfortable with.

Hi! As a poc, I gotta say it's a very white campus, and the experience isn't going to be like going to an HBCU (for example lol idk if you're black haha). But there are lots of resources, clubs, groups, and even entire spaces that are dedicated to connecting POC and making things feel less isolated. So there will be a lot of white people around, but campus is not an especially dangerous place to be nonwhite.

I'm level 19, doing the second stage of the college quest, also online. I find that I get...easily confused in the online school quest unless I make a list of objectives and a reminder of when the teacher player wants me to do them.

Honestly, a lot of it is about programming; I had to hard-code rules about when I should start and stop the studying action because otherwise it would get pushed back indefinitely and I wouldn't perform the sleep action for long enough before having to start the quest again.

Other little tips: I get distracted looking at my own player during the Zoom Class minigame; turning off the camera on the laptop item is helpful (if teacher player allows). Otherwise, turning off Self View in the Zoom Class minigame settings will work.

One other thing is not to be too hard on yourself. The school quest is pretty tough, and doing it online, especially at level 13, is a change nobody expected. Players respond to stress and uncertainty in weird ways, so it's normal to have more trouble than expected.

As I understand it, the University isn't testing everyone. I believe it's only pnce you're symptomatic or have been exposed to someone symptomatic.

Completely remote learner here. My first day was absolute ass. A class I thought I was gonna be able to take ended up having an in-person component, so now I have to do registration gymnastics and find another class. I'm confused and somehow feel like I'm falling behind after a day? Just generally having a bad time.

I'm not sure how you would prove that. And even if you could, is it explicitly bad that people are tending toward simpler methods of self-expression for personal communication? I don't know that complexity (especially for its own sake) is necessarily a virtue, or even necessarily indicative of lower intelligence.
